Game 3 was an emotionally draining one, more so for the Knicks than the Spurs. Pressure was building up on Jalen Brunson and company in the 2 days in between Games 2 and 3, and with the whole city expecting them to grab this series by the throat and go up 3-0, the Knicks folded. Everyone wrote off San Antonio after they lost the first 2 games at home, but they played a calculated game on Monday and were able to weather the storm early. New York did have a strong stretch towards the end of the first half, but they weren’t able to sustain that level of play towards the end. All those errors will have to be ironed out in Game 4, especially on Karl-Anthony Towns’ part. He had the worst game of the series by far, partially due to him being in foul trouble, but he has to be smarter than that on Wednesday.
Brunson is slowly becoming comfortable offensively. Despite shooting just 44% in Game 3, it was his highest efficiency game of the series so far. I also expect the Knicks to play Mitchell Robinson a lot more than the 7 minutes he got on Monday. One of the reasons why Victor Wembanyama was able to get going so close to the basket early in the game is because he didn’t encounter all that much resistance in the paint. More Robinson minutes means more physicality down low.
The Knicks have to up their level of physicality here, as going back to San Antonio for Game 5 with the series tied at 2-2 is not an option. I'm taking the Knicks.

The big fella is on a hot shooting streak from downtown and seems to be getting better as this series progresses. He’s connected on 2 threes in all 3 games so far, and in Game 3, he shot his highest percentage yet at 50%. New York’s defense has made a conscious effort of forcing Wemby to rely more on the deep ball, which is something they’d rather live than him asserting his dominance down low. The Frenchman seems fine with that, as he has developed a consistent three-point shot unlike anyone else at his size arguably in the history of this game. Only once in the last 8 meetings between these sides he has failed to clear this line, while in his last 10 games this postseason he’s 8-for-10 on cashing this bet. As long as this continues to cash, I will keep on betting on it.

After starting the series with a pair of 17-point games, Game 3 saw Anunoy pick it up offensively, going 9-for-13 from the field en route to 28 points. He also went 3-for-7 from three, connecting on 3 threes for the 2nd game in this series. It’s crazy to think, but OG has gone a bit under the radar in this series. He’s not getting nearly as much hype as Brunson and Towns are, but that hasn’t stopped him from putting up 19.9 ppg this postseason – which is the 2nd-highest number on the team behind Brunson.
With Anunoby being in familiar surroundings once again, I expect another productive game on Wednesday. The 9 free-throw attempts tell us he isn’t afraid to attack the basket even with Wembanyama roaming the paint. Simply, OG has the complete package on offense, and the Knicks will need his production if they want to take a commanding 3-1 lead.
