Hawks vs Kings Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Under 232.5(-108)

The Atlanta Hawks will continue a 4-game Western Conference road trip when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. This is a bit unusual for this franchise, but Atlanta has been putting the clamps down defensively of late. The Hawks wrapped up a 3-game homestand with a 122-102 victory over the Lakers and then tipped off this current road trek with a 105-102 defeat of the Clippers on Monday. I think that trend can continue, so my Kings vs Hawks pick is Under 232.5.

Trae Young’s absence is part of the reason why head coach Quinn Snyder’s club is playing lower-scoring affairs. Young, who is out at least a couple more weeks with a knee injury, is obviously an offensive force but doesn’t play much defense. When he is off the court, Atlanta can be a relatively defensive-minded team with newcomer Kristaps Porzingis down low and Dyson Daniels on the perimeter. Daniels, “The Great Barrier Thief,” led the league in steals by a country mile in 2024-25 and is currently third in that department this season. The Hawks are #21 in pace of play (possessions per game) so far this season and third-to-last in that metric over the past 3 contests. Sacramento is playing the second leg of a back-to-back situation on Wednesday, so — on tired legs — it could be willing to play down to the visitors’ pace in this matchup. I’m rolling with the under.
