Mavericks vs Jazz Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
DAL Mavericks -1.5(-110)

The Dallas Mavericks have put together a nice run of late, winning 6 of their last 10 games and fighting their way into the play-in positions in the Western Conference. They will hope to keep that momentum going tonight against the Utah Jazz. A major deciding factor in this game could be the status of Anthony Davis. He is currently listed as questionable to play with a calf concern. The visitors have won 4 of the last 5 games that Davis has played in, with the only loss in that stretch coming to the Oklahoma City Thunder. If he is cleared to play, he should dominate the interior — especially considering that the Jazz are resting Jusuf Nurkic tonight.

The Jazz have recently fallen off in terms of form. Over the last 10 games they are 29th in net offensive and defensive rating; only the Washington Wizards are below them. They have struggled taking care of the ball, ranking 25th in opponent points off turnovers during that stretch of games. Getting easy scores in transition could really elevate the scoring potential of this Mavericks squad. The home side is also just 25th this season in 3-point percentage, too. If Davis is cleared to play, they should find it hard to score efficiently in the paint. With inefficiency from the perimeter, as well, itโ€™s hard to see them coming away with a win. The status of Davis is obviously paramount.

Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props.
