Nuggets vs Thunder Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Oklahoma City Thunder will be eager to bounce back from a surprising loss in the series opener when they host the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of this Western Conference semifinal series on Wednesday night. Denver went into OKC and won a high-scoring thriller 121-119 on Monday. Absolute shootouts between these 2 teams are nothing new. Of 4 head-to-head meetings during the regular season, 3 produced at least 230 points — including totals of 246 and an especially ridiculous 267 (both in regulation). There is no reason to think the pace will slow down in this next chapter, so my Nuggets vs Thunder pick is Over 230.
Nuggets guard Jamal Murray missed 2 weeks in late March and early April, but he is 100 percent now and getting along nicely. The Kentucky product has scored at least 21 points in 6 of 8 playoff games so far. Nikola Jokic is also getting plenty of help from Aaron Gordon, who averaged 18.9 ppg in the first round against the Clippers and drained a game-winning 3 on Monday to cap off a 22-point effort. Meanwhile, OKC averaged 120 ppg during a 4-game sweep of Memphis and was basically right at that number in the series opener against Denver. Game 1 resulted in 240 points even though neither team shot the ball particularly well, so I feel good that a 230 number isn’t high enough for Game 2.
