The Nets saw one of their best players, Cam Thomas, leave the game early on Wednesday with hamstring tightness. Brooklyn was able to pivot and still pick up the win with Thomas sidelined, but if Thomas sits again tonight, his offensive scoring could be missed against one of the best defenses in the NBA. The Pistons currently rank 3rd in the NBA with a defensive rating of 109.7. Without Thomas in the lineup, the Nets lack players who they can lean on to create plays on the offensive end. Porter Jr. had 32 points against Indiana, but his game is more of a spot up shooter than a player who can create off the dribble. If the Pistons can get their rotations right tonight, they should be able to cover the open shooter. Furthermore, they have center Jaren Duran – coming off a 22 rebound performance – to gather in the boards.

Both the Nets and the Pistons rank among the slowest teams in the NBA in terms of pace. The Nets rank 25th and the Pistons 19th. Scoring opportunities will be limited tonight for the Nets, even on their home floor. I like for this game to stay under the total.
