Clippers vs Warriors Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Clippers opened the season with a stinker — a 129-108 loss to the Utah Jazz where their defense was nowhere to be found and the game was essentially over by the end of the first quarter. Since then, though, they’ve rebounded with wins over the Suns and Trail Blazers. Led by Kawhi Leonard (22.3 ppg) and James Harden (21.7 ppg, 10.3 apg) their offense has found some rhythm. The roster looks different this year — gone is underrated contributor Norman Powell, and in are new pieces like Bradley Beal, Chris Paul, John Collins and Brook Lopez. But with the oldest roster in the league (average age around 32), durability and consistency down the stretch of the season will be the real question.
On the other side, the Warriors, who also carry one of the older rosters in the league, are coming off a 131-118 win at home against the Memphis Grizzlies last night. Historically strong at home and always dangerous offensively, they face a challenge here: the Clippers are among the league’s top defensive squads — and Golden State will be playing on a back-to-back, which we could see a dip in production. The Warriors’ offense is humming (near the top ten in offensive efficiency) but their defense is lagging: allowing over 126 points per game, placing them about 26th in the league. With that vulnerability, the Clippers’ two way balance makes them an attractive pick.
