It’s a Wednesday night matinee in Oklahoma City with the LA Lakers coming to town. Luka Doncic and co. have been on fire so far this season, they recovered well from their defeat against Atlanta the other day by beating the lowly Hornets 121-111 on Monday. Things get a lot tougher this evening with the defending champs standing in their way. The last two meetings between the teams were blowout wins, this time around I’m hoping for a slightly more competitive game.

OKC will be playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back here, which could impact them a little. I say a little because this team has been ruthless in their approach so far, beating teams by an average of 14.4 points per game and winning 11 of 12 games so far. You’ll be hard pressed to find a weakness for this team, even with 5 players on the injury report. SGA is putting together an early case for MVP honors, if the Thunder continue winning at this pace we’ll see a lot of records broken in the coming weeks and months.

The incentive to win will be slightly bigger than normal here, given that this is a nationally televised game after all. The Thunder are a flawless 5-0 at home, but something tells me the Lakers and especially Doncic will be ready here. The man who gifted the Lakers their new superstar just got fired, can you imagine the storylines if the Lakers inflict the defending champs their first home loss of the season just a day after that? It is a risky play, but I’ll take LA to upset here.
