With 3 wins on the bounce, the New York Knicks are back in the second seed in the East — and one of the teams they have overtaken in the standings are the Toronto Raptors. Tuesday’s game will be their second meeting of the season, with the stakes being a lot higher compared to the first one a little over a week ago. Winning the NBA Cup would do wonders for the confidence of the Knicks, who are attempting to make that next step in their development as a team. Despite their road form being iffy this season at 3-6 SU, I still feel like they are a solid bet in Tuesday’s game.

Toronto has fallen off a cliff, losing 3 straight games and 5 of their last 6. They are averaging just 107.5 points per game during this stretch, the third-lowest mark in the league. The offense is stagnant at times and they are turning the ball at the fifth-highest rate in the NBA right now. So how do they fix all this before such a big game against New York? I’m not sure there’s just one thing they do and everything goes away. Sunday’s game against Boston saw Toronto come out the gates really slow; it was down by as many as 23 points. Brandon Ingram has been the only bright spot during this poor run, but he alone isn’t able to make up for all the deficiencies this team has right now.

The Knicks blew out the Raptors 116-94 at MSG 8 days ago — it was their ninth win in 10 meetings and the eighth time they have covered in 9 games against this team. Having covered in 7 of 8 games overall, the Knicks have been a very reliable bet in the last couple of weeks. With a spot in the NBA Cup semis being on the line, I think Brunson and company will be fully locked in.

Scottie Barnes over 5.5 assists (+110)

Raptors star Scottie Barnes has been sharing the ball to start December. He has recorded 6 or more assists in 3 of the 4 games he has appeared in so far, coming just one short in the other. That one game was also a blowout loss which saw him play 5 fewer minutes than any other game this month. With RJ Barrett remaining out, Barnes has taken on more of the playmaking responsibilities too. Considering he is averaging 5.3 assists per game this season, it makes him great value to hit the over on this line. With Mitchell Robinson in the paint contesting shots as a help defender, it should encourage the Raptors playmaker to kick to ball out and find open shooters.

Jordan Clarkson under 1.5 made threes (-132)

Jordan Clarkson has not had an easy start to life with the New York Knicks, and his inefficiencies from deep are the reason why. He is currently making 29.2% of his 3-point attempts, on pace for the worst mark of his career. His 1.2 makes per game would also be his worst mark since his rookie season. Over the last 8 games he has hit the over on this line on just 2 occasions. On the season the Raptors are 3rd in opponent 3-point percentage and 7th in opponent 3-point makes per game. Not an easy opponent for Clarkson to have a bounce back game against.

Jalen Brunson over 2.5 rebounds (-154)

Jalen Brunson has had little influence rebounding the ball in December, recording 2 rebounds in each of his 4 games so far this month. However, in his one game against Raptors this season, he pulled down 6 rebounds. Do not be surprised to see him going one rebound better than he has in recent games as a result. As mentioned, the Raptors are a great team this season at defending the 3-point line, which should lead to more misses from deep and long rebounding opportunities for guards. In that 6-rebound performance, 2 came on the offensive end. I expect him to use this avenue to pad his rebounding numbers in this one, too.
