Trail Blazers vs Thunder Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
OKC Thunder -15.5(-115)

The Portland Trail Blazers will travel to Oklahoma City this Sunday to take on the Thunder, hoping to snap their 8-game winning streak. The Thunder have a record of 16-1 this season. The only team to beat Oklahoma City has been the Trail Blazers back on November 5th. Portland rallied back from a 22-point deficit in that game behind 26 points from Deni Avdija to win the game 121-119. The Thunder will certainly have an extra layer of motivation for tonight’s game due to the previous loss. The Trail Blazers have a record of 7-9 and have lost four of their last five games. They are coming off a 127-123 win against the Golden State Warriors last Friday. Caleb Love led the Trail Blazers in scoring with a career-high 26 points.

The Thunder were without some key pieces in their previous game against Portland. Missing in that game were Alex Caruso, Chet Holmgren, and Luguentz Dort. All three of those players will be back and ready tonight against Portland as Oklahoma City is the healthiest they have been all season. The Thunder’s goal on defense is to pack the interior and to force opponents to hit perimeter shots. The Thunder have only allowed opponents to score on average 38.2 points per game in the paint. That number has them ranked first in the league in that category. This plays well against the Trail Blazers who rely heavily on interior scoring. Portland currently ranks sixth in the NBA in points in the paint with 54.1 points per game. It could be a poor shooting night for Portland if they are forced to play outside the paint. The Trail Blazers currently rank 25th in field goal percentage at 45% and 27th in three-point percentage at 32.6%. The Trail Blazers have only won two of eight games since they beat the Thunder. I think this is a good spot for the Thunder to avenge their loss earlier in the season.

Thunder -15.5 is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
