San Antonio Spurs
Point Spread Pick
SA Spurs -4.0(-110)

The New Orleans Pelicans looked improved in their narrow loss against the Memphis Grizzlies, with Zion Williamson leading the way with 27 points. However, tonight, he will be up against one of the most difficult matchups in the league, as he will encounter Victor Wembanyama whenever he gets to the rim. The Spurs superstar seems a lock for the Defensive Player of the Year title, and with his ability to block shots, it could really stifle the Pelicans offense. Williamson led his team with 5 assists in that game, too. Playing without a natural point guard in the lineup doesn’t help New Orleans offensively, either.

The Spurs dominated the Dallas Mavericks in their first game, allowing just 26 paint points. Considering Trey Murphy III is NO’s only real consistent perimeter threat from deep, as Jordan Poole is a very streaky player, it’s hard to envision how the Pelicans keep pace here. Yves Missi is also questionable to play, which could impact their own ability to get stops on the inside. Ja Morant was able to torch them for 35 points, and a player as athletic as reigning rookie of the year Stephon Castle could see similar success. Look for the Spurs and Wembanyama to shut down another team and to cover the spread.

Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props.
