Cleveland Cavaliers -5.5 over Orlando Magic (-110)

We didn’t see many points in the series opener between the Magic and Cavs, but what we did see was a confident Donovan Mitchell — who carried the Cavaliers to a 14-point win. As good as Orlando was in the regular season, they just couldn’t translate that form onto the first game of the playoffs. This team is severely limited on offense and this is just a bad matchup for them.

I’m expecting more of the same in Game 2. Cleveland has 7 wins in the last 9 meetings, plus the Cavaliers have also won 6 of the last 7 head-to-head in their own building. There is a visible drop of form from the Magic lately; they have gone just 1-4 ATS/SU in their last 5 games. For a young team like theirs, this postseason will serve as a building block for the future. Their time will undoubtedly come, but until that happens I’m more than confident in the Cavaliers.

Philadelphia 76ers vs New York Knicks Over 207.5 (-110)

The 76ers and Knicks cashed on the over fairly easily in Game 1 despite their best players in Joel Embiid and Jalen Brunson, respectively, combining to go just 16-for-48 from the field. Neither team shot the ball all that well, but they were both aggressive and relentless all night long in attacking the basket — which resulted in 50 free throws taken combined.

That was the 5th time the 76ers went over the total in their last 6 games overall and the 7th time in 8 games against Eastern Conference opponents. Although the Knicks are the slowest paced team in the NBA, you wouldn’t know it if you watched their last 6 games; the over has cashed in all 6 of them. With a bounce-back performance from Brunson on the cards and both teams really going for the win in Game 2, I think backing the over is a solid bet.

We also have a 76ers vs Knicks Same Game Parlay for tonight’s huge matchup at +520 odds!

Los Angeles Lakers ML over Denver Nuggets (+240)

Here we go again. If you’re a Lakers fan, then this all feels familiar to you. The Lakers played well in Game 1 for stretches, but in the end the Nuggets showed why they are the defending champions. Going 2-0 down is not an option for LeBron James and company, because if that happens they would then need to win 4 of the next 5 games to advance — which just isn’t conceivable.

I’m looking at D’Angelo Russell to respond following a dismal shooting night on Saturday. The Lakers actually led by 3 points at half-time and only lost by 11 points despite shooting just 27% from downtown. Both LeBron and Anthony Davis played well, which is encouraging. If James can have 10+ assists and get the 3-ball going, I think the Lakers could surprise the Nuggets. The Lakers are 12-4 SU over their last 16 games. This is pretty much a must-win scenario for them, so I’ll take them as road underdogs on the money line.
