I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. We’re down to the final 2 games before the All-Star break. However, they’re 2 of the best matchups we could ask for. The Carolina Hurricanes just mounted a 4-1 comeback to win 5-4 last night to maintain the 2nd-best record in hockey. Now they head to Buffalo to take on the league-best offense of the Sabres. The only team better, the Boston Bruins, are taking on the team trying to catch them in the Atlantic Division in the Toronto Maple Leafs. It’s that 2nd matchup where we’re headed for our last NHL player prop for a few days.

We’re on a remarkable 18-6 run on our NHL player props, so let’s wrap up the first half of the season in style! Along with our best NHL player prop, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Patrice Bergeron over 0.5 points (-130)

Despite only having a handful of games the last few nights, we’ve been hitting our props. In fact, the last time we missed was targeting Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins. Admittedly, that’s where we’d like to target tonight, but we’ll keep some variety going by targeting his linemate in Bergeron. As incredible as teammate David Pastrnak has been this season, it’s the Bergeron-Marchand line that is rated as the 4th-best in the NHL in terms of expected goal percentage. Expect them to come out on fire to get a huge win before the All-Star break.

The Bruins have had to face 3 of the best teams in the Eastern Conference over the last week and have lost multiple games in a row for the first time all season. Even still, they’re on pace for NHL records in terms of wins and points. They’ll want to prove that against a Maple Leafs team that is trying to catch them in the division. It isn’t the best matchup as Toronto is a strong goaltending team, but the Bruins have been matchup-proof this season, scoring the 3rd-most goals per game. Bergeron helped prove that when he recorded a point against the Leafs just 3 weeks ago. He’s done so in 4 of his last 5 games against Toronto and 7 of his last 10. Therefore, we’ll take him to keep the trend going tonight along with Marchand doing the same.
