I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. As the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs skate on, we’re starting to have fewer games each night, but the competition ramps up tenfold. With that in mind, we have just a single game on the board tonight. However, it’s a potential closeout game. Following their Game 5 win, the Dallas Stars have the opportunity to eliminate the Seattle Kraken. They’ll have to do so on the road, which can cause hesitation in picking a winner. Therefore, we have our top NHL player prop for you to target as well.

Along with our NHL player prop, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for the Stanley Cup Playoffs action.

Miro Heiskanen over 0.5 assists (-135)

When it comes to the Dallas Stars in the past 2 seasons, it has all been about Jason Robertson. After all, his 109 points this year were tied for the 5th-most in the league. As for this series, it’s been about Joe Pavelski and his incredible 7 goals. Overall, Roope Hintz has 8 goals in these Stanley Cup Playoffs. Well, someone has to be feeding them assists to find the net. That guy is Miro Heiskanen more often than not. He has 8 points himself in this postseason, and all 8 have been assists.

The defenseman has a solid shot, but he prefers to set up that top line of Robertson, Pavelski and Hintz. Let’s also not forget that he also has captain Jamie Benn to link up with. Heiskanen recorded 73 points through 79 games in the regular season as well, and 62 of those were assists. It’s also worth noting that his 25:29 ice time per game this year was the 6th-most in the NHL. That has ramped up in the Stanley Cup Playoffs as his 27:50 is the 2nd-most and the absolute most out of the skaters remaining. With Heiskanen surrounded by great skaters and seemingly always on the ice, taking him to record an assist is our top NHL player prop for tonight.
