We couldn’t have had a more exciting 14-game NHL slate yesterday, and we’re back with 5 more games today. With only a handful of contests, it doesn’t feel like there are many great matchups for player props. The Kings get a weak Blackhawks team, but are on a back-to-back, and the same is the case for both the Jets and Coyotes. We’re mentioning that because for just the second time all season, we’re targeting two skaters from the same team. It was profitable the first time and we’ll break down why it should be again tonight.

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

David Pastrnak over 1.5 points (+135)

Upon seeing what was left after the games we already mentioned, it’s no surprise we’re heading to Boston. The Bruins have been nothing short of incredible this season, and their effort has been led by David Pastrnak. He’s having a true MVP-caliber season, with 63 points through 45 games. That’s the 5th-most in the NHL and has helped the Bruins lead the league with a 36-5-4 record. Now they get to head back to TD Garden where they’ve been even more dominant. Pastrnak and company are a ridiculous 21-1-3 on home ice.

The last time they were in Boston they cruised to a 6-0 win behind Pastrnak’s 3 points, and now face a San Jose Sharks team on the second night of a back-to-back. They’re already allowing the 4th-most goals per game, so that only enhances that issue. Pastrnak may not even know it, but he had 2 points taken away from him in the Bruins recent win over the Rangers. If he does, he’ll be out with a vengeance and even if he doesn’t, he had 2 points against the Sharks just 2 weeks ago. That game was in San Jose, meaning there’s no reason to expect anything less now he’s back in Boston.

Charlie McAvoy over 0.5 points (-140)

If we’re going to be targeting teammates, of course we’re going to have our plays correlate. McAvoy has missed time this season but is back healthy and looking great. The defenseman linked up with Pastrnak and had 2 assists in that 6-0 win. That added to his total for the year giving him 27 points through 32 games. We’d normally suggest targeting his assist prop specifically, as 24 of his 27 points have been assists.

However, with the price difference being about -140 to -120, it doesn’t feel worth even the slight risk. Regardless, McAvoy to Pastrnak is becoming a classic combo, and even Patrice Bergeron can be a volume shooter. It also helps that McAvoy is on the ice for nearly 23 minutes per game and on the first power-play unit. As we’ve already mentioned, the Sharks will be on the second night of a back-to-back and already struggle with goaltending. The entirety of the Bruins should feast, but we’ll back Pastrnak and McAvoy specifically.
