Following an incredible 14-game Saturday, we have a handful of matchups on the ice today. Of the 10 teams in action, 7 were in action last night. Two of the 3 that weren’t have been among the best in the league — the Bruins and Devils. That creates some interesting matchups and of course opportunities for profit.

New Jersey Devils ML (-140) over Pittsburgh Penguins

Our first play is in the first game of the day. It features the only matchup in which both teams had Saturday off. The Devils are returning from their west-coast road trip and are looking for their 30th win of the season. They’ll be just the second team in the NHL to reach that mark as they try to regain control of the Metro Division. Further down the division standings are the Penguins.

They’re coming off a win against the Ottawa Senators, but also lost to that same Sens team 2 nights prior. That’s worth noting as they’ve simply not looked nearly as consistent outside of Pittsburgh. The Pens are just 10-10-3 on the road, which is in the bottom half of the league. While that may not be the worst, it takes more than that given how strong the Devils have been this season. They have already defeated the Pens 4-2 this year, which was in Pittsburgh, so they can take this one on home ice.

Don’t miss out on our NHL player props for today’s action!

Boston Bruins -2.5 (+130) over San Jose Sharks

The Devils are looking to be the second team to 30 wins, while the Bruins reached that feat quite some time ago. As the best team in the NHL, they have an incredible 36-5-4 record. As if they didn’t need any more help, they were one of the few teams resting yesterday. Meanwhile, the Sharks were on the road in Columbus taking on the Blue Jackets.

That should have been the easier of those games, as the Jackets are the worst team in the NHL. However, San Jose was embarrassed and lost by multiple goals. Now they have to face a Bruins team scoring the most goals per game while the Sharks allow the 4th-most. Not only that, but they’ll also be on the road once again. If the Bruins overall record didn’t impress you enough, they’re a remarkable 21-1-3 on home ice. If the Blue Jackets can beat the Sharks by multiple goals, then the Bruins can certainly run away with things tonight.

Los Angeles Kings ML & under 6.5 (+165) over Chicago Blackhawks

Don’t let the Blackhawks’ win last night fool you. They’re still the worst team in the Western Conference and only recently overtook the Blue Jackets for the worst overall. Both teams were in action last night, but that’s much worse news for the ‘Hawks given their goaltending struggles. They’re allowing the 7th-most goals per game, so it’s no surprise that the Kings are still favorites of around -230 even on the road.

Chicago’s goaltending may make the under part of this play seem surprising, but these teams have proved that they don’t have elite goalscoring either. They’ve played each other twice already this season and both games finished with just 3 total goals. If you’re going to back the Kings as a solo play, it’d likely have to be on the puck line. However, it’s difficult to trust them to win by multiple goals when so few of them will likely be scored. Therefore, this is our favorite way to play this matchup in Chicago.
