After a lighter Wednesday, we’re kicking things into full gear in preparation for the weekend. It’s March, so things are getting even more tense for teams as we near the trade deadline. This season has had some significant moves, with the latest being Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers. It will be strange to see him in new colors for sure. David Pastrnak over 0.5 goals (+100)
Our first play may ignite the thought of a lack of creativity, but we can assure you that’s not the case. While we did target this play recently, this is the 3rd time throughout the whole season for a skater with the 2nd-most goals in the NHL. Regardless, tonight’s spot is a great one. The Bruins are returning home to TD Garden after completely sweeping their road trip in Seattle and Canada. They also won their 4 games prior to that, putting them on an 8-game winning streak. Now Pastrnak and company get to enjoy their home crowd knowing that they’re still on pace to set the NHL record for wins and points.
They also get to do so by hosting the Buffalo Sabres, who allowed the most goals per game throughout February. Even a terrible Columbus Blue Jackets team just scored 5 goals on them on Tuesday night, and that was in Buffalo. Pastrnak has notched a goal in 2 of his last 3 games against the Sabres, both of which were in Boston. Admittedly, Pastrnak has not scored a goal in 3 games. However, he hasn’t gone 4 games without finding the back of the net the entire season. Now back on home ice with a prime matchup, we expect him to score at least one goal.

Mats Zuccarello over 0.5 assists (-140)
Try not to knock us too hard for yet another play we used recently. However, when the spots are great, there’s no sense in fighting against them. Although we needed overtime, Zuccarello came through for us in the Minnesota Wild’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. Now they get to face yet another terrible goaltending team in the Vancouver Canucks. They allowed the 2nd-most goals per game last month, ahead of only the aforementioned Sabres, and the absolute most since the start of 2023.
To go along with that, the Canucks have the worst penalty kill in the NHL, and it isn’t close. They’re nearly 6% worse than the next-worst team (the Sabres). Regardless, Zuccarello has feasted on Vancouver. He’s recorded an assist in each of his last 4 games against them, 5 of the last 6 and 8 in total over those 6 games. It certainly doesn’t hurt that he skates alongside Kirill Kaprizov, who recorded a hat-trick on Sunday. Even when Zuccarello has scored a goal against the Canucks in 2 of the last 3 games, he’s recorded at least 1 assist to go along with it. With all that in mind, we see a big night for Minnesota’s right winger.
