We had a thrilling Saturday of NHL action with nearly every team in action. With that came several skaters on new teams from recent trades having strong performances. We’re back with 8 more games to close out the weekend, which is more than most Sundays. That means several teams on back-to-backs, so we could see some tired skaters. However, we can use that to our advantage when targeting the player prop markets, which is what we’ve done here.

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Brad Marchand Over 0.5 points (-150)

We’re not wasting any time getting started as the Boston Bruins are playing in the first game of the day yet again. They took down the Detroit Red Wings yesterday and now face them on the road. That win not only locked up their playoff berth, but also saw them become the fastest team in NHL history to 50 wins. Now, we’re taking advantage of one of the most valuable plays of the season. With odds of around -150, this should be Marchand’s assist prop. His point prop is generally north of -215, or listed at 1.5 points.

The most logical explanation for this would be that Boston doesn’t have much to play for in terms of playoff seeding. However, they’re still chasing history. They’re on pace to set the record for most wins and points in a season. On top of that, Marchand is known to be one of the most scrappy, emotional skaters in the league, so the idea of a relaxing game is not a mindset he holds. Couple that with his success against Detroit, and we have a great play. Marchand has totaled 10 points in his last 6 games against the Wings. Of those 10, 8 have been assists. However, we are getting too great of a price with the overall points prop to pass up.

Matt Duchene Over 1.5 points (+165)

Like Marchand, we have a play that is simply too valuable to pass up. Matt Duchene’s point prop is generally listed at 0.5 with a rather heavy price. However, oddsmakers have bumped it up to 1.5 with the Nashville Predators facing the Anaheim Ducks. Admittedly, the Preds’ offense isn’t exactly top tier without Filip Forsberg on the ice, but the Ducks’ defense truly is that awful. Also, Duchene is relied upon much more with Forsberg still injured.

He and Roman Josi have helped take down Anaheim with ease in recent meetings. Nashville routed them 6-1 in the most recent matchup. Similarly, Duchene has had multiple points against the Ducks in 3 of his last 4 games against them. There’s no reason to believe that shouldn’t continue, as Anaheim is tied for the 2nd-most goals allowed per game since the start of February. We’ll have to wait for the night game for this play, but with such great plus-money odds, it should be worth the wait.

Joel Eriksson Ek Over 0.5 points (-150)

We have another play we’ll have to wait until the late games for, but we liked this one enough to add in a bonus play. The Minnesota Wild recently got bad news with superstar Kirill Kaprizov out for the next few weeks. That’s a big blow to their offense, but Mats Zuccarello and Eriksson Ek will need to step up and they proved they were able to do just that in their 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks last night.

The Arizona Coyotes have surprisingly been a pesky team for the Wild, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t see goals. Eriksson Ek had already earned the right to skate alongside Kaprizov, and now he’ll need to take over the top line. If you’re in search of a great history against a specific opponent, we’ve got you covered. The Wild center has recorded at least a point in 7 of his last 8 games against Arizona. With the Coyotes also on the second night of a back-to-back, we expect Eriksson Ek’s strong performances against them to continue.
