With nearly every team in action yesterday, it’s no surprise we have several teams on back-to-backs today. Sundays are generally a lighter day in the NHL, but we have a great 8-game slate to finish off this weekend. Like yesterday, we also have some early afternoon hockey. So many teams playing for the second straight night can make it a bit more difficult to predict outcomes. However, that’s what we’re here for. We’ve checked out who used which goalie, how teams match up and more to piece together our 3 most valuable plays.

Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Carolina Hurricanes ML (-113) over New Jersey Devils

With the postseason rapidly approaching, this matchup is one of the best remaining in the regular season. The Hurricanes and Devils have been battling for supremacy of the Metro Division all year. With Carolina’s loss last night and New Jersey’s win, the Devils are now within 2 points of tying the Canes. However, we don’t foresee them getting those points tonight. Seeing Carolina lose on home ice last night may not feel good, but it’s providing better value with them today.

They took down the Devils in each of the first 2 meetings this season, including in Jersey where the Hurricanes scored 5 goals. Both teams will be on the second night of a back-to-back, but Carolina’s defense being so strong provides them the advantage in that situation. They simply don’t allow much pressure on net, as they allow shots per game, and it’s not particularly close. While the Devils got the win last night, it was a very uninspiring 3-1 victory over a bad Montreal Canadiens team. New Jersey is a very strong team for sure, but Carolina can get the best of them tonight.

Nashville Predators 3-way ML (+100) over Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks are one of just 2 teams in action today that weren’t on the ice last night. However, that’s about the only thing they have going for them. They’ve been allowing the most goals per game throughout the season at just a shade under 4 goals per game. The Preds were part of that average increasing in their last meeting, as they rolled through Anaheim by a final score of 6-1. In fact, they’ve won 3 of their last 4 games against the Ducks by multiple goals, and we only need them to take care of business in regulation for this play.

In those 4 games, Nashville outscored Anaheim 18-6. The Preds are still dealing with the injury to Filip Forsberg, but they shouldn’t need many goals to get the job done tonight. The Ducks average just 2.5 goals per game, which is the 2nd-fewest in the NHL. Nashville held the Kings to 1 goal in Los Angeles last night, so there’s no reason to expect any differentl in Anaheim. The Preds may not be poised to make a playoff push, but they can handle the Ducks tonight.

Arizona Coyotes ML (+184) over Minnesota Wild

Our last leg is another play out west. The Ducks and Coyotes have been the bottom feeders of the NHL for the last couple of seasons, but Arizona can be an absolute pest for any team on any given night. They’ve become notorious for upsetting the Toronto Maple Leafs, which they’ve done twice this season. If the Coyotes can outscore Auston Matthews and company 10-5, they can pull off the upset against a Kirill Kaprizov-less Minnesota Wild.

The superstar will be sidelined for at least 3-4 weeks, which is a huge blow to the team. Minnesota should still be fine in terms of their postseason spot, but their final stretch of the season may be rocky. That could begin in Arizona tonight, as the Coyotes beat the Wild just over a month ago. Even in their 2 prior meetings, they lost by just 1 goal in hard-fought matchups. No Kaprizov could easily be the difference in a 1-goal loss becoming an upset. With them on home ice tonight, there’s great value on the Coyotes.

Don’t miss out on our NHL player props for today’s action – we have 3 picks!
