Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. The Denver Nuggets restored order and regained home-court advantage as they defeated the Miami Heat in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. In the process, Bam Adebayo was able to cash my +550 first basket scorer pick for the game. I will be hoping to make it 2 in a row as the Nuggets stay in Miami for Game 4.

Nuggets vs Heat first basket best bet: Jamal Murray (+650)

Bam Adebayo has taken the season lead in winning the opening tip against Nikola Jokic. The Heat center has come out on top on 3 of the 5 occasions they have gone up against each other. But considering how on the season the Nuggets have won 50% of their tips compared to 51.9% for the Heat, there really is not much to separate them. Do not be surprised to see the taller Jokic evening the score once more tonight. The visitors also holding their opponents to 41.7% shooting from the field in the finals. The Heat, on the other hand, allow them to make 51.3% of their shots. With the Nuggets the more likely team to get a stop, they should get an attempt at the first basket tonight.

I am backing Jamal Murray to be the man to convert it this time. The Nuggets have 2 clear offensive leaders with Murray and Jokic and they were the only Nuggets to have double-digit field-goal attempts in Game 3. Murray, however, benefits from the presence of Jokic more. Not only is the Serbian a terrific playmaker, but his shot-making ability forces Adebayo to stick close to him. That helps to reduce the amount of help the Heat can send Murray’s way on drives. Considering he is also matched up against a smaller Gabe Vincent, he should have no issues rising and finishing over his opponent. Murray opened the scoring for the Nuggets last time out and I think he can open the scoring overall this time.
