Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. The Miami Heat were able to cause an upset in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Having pulled off a win over the Denver Nuggets, they return home with the series tied. If they can successfully defend their homecourt over the next 2 games, it would put them in a terrific position to win the NBA championship. However, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are unlikely to make it easy for them here. Be sure to watch tonight’s Game 3 live on ABC. Check out my first-basket scorer pick for the NBA finals below, but you can also read our Nuggets vs Heat predictions for picks on the side and total.

Nuggets vs Heat first basket best bet: Bam Adebayo (+550)

Bam Adebayo was able to gain the opening possession for the Miami Heat in Game 2 of the series. It evened the score between and Nikola Jokic not only in this series but also in the season. While Adebayo is giving up a height advantage, he is a far more explosive player than his counterpart. The Heat had more success in winning the opening tip this season, gaining the ball first on 51.5% of tip-offs. The Nuggets have gotten the ball first in 50.5% of their games. It should give the Heat a slight advantage to gain the first possession at home tonight.

Look for Bam Adebayo to both win the tip and open the scoring tonight. He took the opening shot for the Heat in Game 2. Although he missed that shot, he has had success opening the scoring for his team. Over the last 10 games, he has done so on 4 occasions. No player taking to the floor tonight has managed more. He has also had success scoring the ball against the Nuggets in these finals. He is coming into this game after 2 straight performances of 20 or more points. With Jokic being a defensive liability, the Heat could turn to Adebayo early once more.
