Best player props for Sunday's NHL slate: DeBrincat playing a larger role with Kane ruled out

There are just four games for Sunday’s NHL slate, so we’re going to take a deeper dive into two of the matchups and choose two player props we think will provide good value and have a great chance of hitting. Games are starting at 1:00 pm ET and the final game of the night starts at 10:00 pm ET. The Chicago Blackhawks are still looking for their first win, while the Vegas Golden Knights are looking to rebound from their 1-3-0 start. It’s a smaller slate, but make sure you’re tuned in.

Alex DeBrincat over 2.5 shots on goal (-145)

Alex DeBrincat is one of the main goalscoring options for the Blackhawks, but with only two goals in five games, his team still hasn’t recorded a win this season. He currently has 14 shots through those five games, but with his linemate Patrick Kane in the Covid-19 protocols, DeBrincat is going to need to do more for his team tonight if they have any chance at winning. The Red Wings have been allowing 33 shots per game, which should work in DeBrincat’s favor. A poor defense in Detroit is going up against a Chicago team that’s desperate for a win, expect a lot of shots on goal in this one.

DeBrincat is expected to start on the first line with Kirby Dach; a fairly good defensive center with a pass-first mindset. Alex is also slotted on the first powerplay in the main shooting option. He averages 4:24 minutes of powerplay time per game. Take over 2.5 shots.

Chandler Stephenson over 0.5 points (-118)

With Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone out, the majority of the load has been put on Chandler Stephenson’s back. Not exactly a premier number one center, Stephenson has been working to establish himself as that guy over the course of last season and the current one. He has four points through four games and after starting the season 1-3-0, the Golden Knights need a win soon before the wheels fall off. Stephenson has gone pointless in just one game this season, and against a struggling Islanders team this could be a good time to bet on Chandler getting a point.

The Isles are playing the tail end of a back to back which could bode well for the Knights and Stephenson’s chances of recording a point. The Islanders are allowing three goals per game, and as the number one option, Stephenson should have plenty of chances to get on the scoreboard tonight. Take him to record a point.
