The 2022 college football season advances into Week 2, with a couple of games on Friday followed by the normal smorgasbord of gridiron action on Saturday. Although the slate may not be as interesting or as extensive as Week 1 (when games were played on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday), there is still plenty to work worth on the betting front.

This particular piece will take you through the best teaser bets made to be made. Teasers can be a valuable strategy because you can move spreads to more manageable numbers. Obviously the payout of a teaser parlay is much less than a standard parlay, but the likelihood of each leg cashing is much greater.

Let’s take a look at our favorite teaser picks for Week 2 of the season. A three-leg, six-point teaser generally pays out at +180 odds.

Teaser leg 1: Wake Forest -7 over Vanderbilt

Star quarterback Sam Hartman is back for the Demon Deacons after being medically cleared to play. Through the air and on the ground, Hartman racked up 4,591 total yards last season to go along with 50 total touchdowns. As for Vanderbilt, as usual, it is not any good. The Commodores are coming off an unspectacular 11-point victory over FCS program Elon. Look for Hartman and his group of experienced skill-position players to run circles around the Vandy defense. You especially have to like this teaser player because it moves the spread through the key number of 10 and down to the key number of seven. A touchdown victory by the Demon Deacons at least gets you a push, but they should win by even more.

Teaser leg 2: South Carolina +14.5 over Arkansas

Head coach Shane Beamer has energized the Gamecocks, who pulled off upset wins over Auburn and North Carolina late in the 2021 season to create a buzz that had been gone from Columbia for quite some time. Former Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler is reunited with Beamer and he promptly threw for 227 yards in an opening win over Georgia State (35-14). Arkansas gave up 325 passing yards to Cincinnati last weekend, so this should be a good opportunity for Rattler to make waves. This is an enticing play because it moves the +8.5 spread through the key numbers of 10, 13 and 14. If South Carolina can simply keep this game within two touchdowns, this leg is a winner.

Teaser leg 3: Oklahoma State -5 over Arizona State

The Sun Devils get their first test of the season as they travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma. Their big challenge is to contain Oklahoma State senior quarterback Spencer Sanders, who was sensational last week. He produced a combined six touchdowns via the run and pass during a 58-44 win over Central Michigan. The offense as a whole looked unstoppable, going for more than 530 yards.

Although the 58-44 score may look concerning, the Cowboys gave up just 22 of those points in the first three quarters and at one stage led by 30. They were able to take their foot off the gas pedal against Central Michigan; they aren’t going to do that against a Power 5 opponent in Arizona State. Again, key numbers are very much on our mind here. Teasing the -11 spread through 10, 7 and 6 is a shrewd move. Oklahoma State should be able to win by at least a touchdown, so you can feel safe giving a -5 spread.
