Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season is listed in my bio. On the year, I recorded 150 wins and 107 losses for a gain of +31 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Saturday.

Justin Verlander (HOU) under 6.5 Ks (-110)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The Future Hall-of-Famer dominated the Los Angeles Angels in his first start. He pitched 5 innings and struck out 7 batters. That was Verlanders’ first start in over 14 months after recovering from Tommy John’s surgery.

His opponents tonight, the Seattle Mariners, have seen the 5th most plate appearances to right-handed pitchers to start the season and have a 21% K rate, 10th lowest in the majors. I expect the Mariners to make Verlander work and get into deep counts.

Houston is looking to get the most out of Verlander tonight, but they will not push him this early in the season.

Hunter Greene (CIN) under 4.5 Ks -(130)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The 22-year old Greene is fresh off a 5-inning performance against the defending champions, Atlanta Braves. He struck out 7 batters but allowed 3 earned runs and walked 2 batters.

Hunter Greene faces the daunting Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers present a lineup with future Hall-of-Famers and the 8th-lowest K rate to right-handed pitchers. The Dodgers got to fellow Cincinnati Reds pitcher, Vladimir Gutierrez early. He had 0 strikeouts going into 4th inning last night but struck out the side for 3 strikeouts on the night.

I expect Greene to get hit early and often and for the Dodgers to make the young kid struggle.
