KBO picks and predictions

Saturday’s five-game slate will feature some lopsided matchups that offer value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Samsung Lions Money Line (-102)

This line looks off to me as the Samsung Lions and Hanwha Eagles face off in game two of this weekend series. Mainly because Chad Bell is the man set to start this game for the Eagles. Bell is 0-7 on the year with a horrible ERA of 7.94. He has allowed five runs in three of his last four starts and has not managed to go more than 6.0 innings in any game this year. So the fact that he is deemed a favorite is puzzling when again, he has yet to win a game.

The Lions will start Sung-hwan Yoon, who is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA. Even still, he has allowed just two runs over his last two starts (10.0 innings), so he looks to be improving. I just cannot back Bell in this spot, so I will take the Lions to come away with the win.

Kiwoom Heroes Money Line (-136)

Starting this game for the Heroes is set to be Seung-ho Lee. He is 3-4 on the year and has an ERA of 5.35. Lee has been better recently, allowing just one run in each of his last two starts. That being over his last 12.0 pitched, which translates to an ERA of 1.50. Lee has one previous start against the Giants where he pitched 7.0 innings of shutout baseball.

For the Giants, they will plan to start Kyung-eun Noh. He is 4-3 on the year with an ERA of 4.86. What worries me about Noh is his previous encounters with the Heroes this season. Sure, he is 1-0 against them, but with an ERA of 6.30 over two starts. Noh allowed at least three runs in both his starts with Kiwoom.

Given the success Lee has had against Lotte, I am going to back him here and look for the Heroes to try and move closer to the Dinos in the standings.

LG Twins Money Line (-104)

Another pitching mismatch here as the LG Twins will start Tyler Wilson and the NC Dinos will send out Jae-hak Lee. Wilson has been the better of the two, posting a record of 6-6 with a 3.86 ERA. He has especially looked sharp over his last five starts, allowing eight runs over his last 29.0 innings (2.48 ERA).

Jae-hak Lee has not been quite as impressive, sitting at 4-5 with a 5.64 ERA. He has been very inconsistent over his last five starts as well, allowing 15 runs over his last 24.2 innings (5.47 ERA).

The LG Twins clearly have the pitching edge here, so I will back them to make it two straight against the mighty Dinos.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a three-team parlay, which pays +574.
