KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s five-game slate will feature some lopsided matchups that offer value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Hanwha Eagles/Doosan Bears Over 8.5 Runs (-118)

The Eagles may be the worst team in the KBO, but they are going up against a terrible Doosan Bears’ pitcher. That being Hui-kwan Yu. He is 8-11 on the year with an ERA of 5.39. He has especially been bad against the Eagles, allowing 10 runs in 11.0 innings against them. That gives him an ERA of 8.18 against this Hanwha team.

It is not like the Eagles will be throwing out their ace. Min-jae Jang will make the start for Hanwha and he is 2-5 with a 5.79. He mainly has been a relief pitcher, so it is possible he will not be out there long. Jang does have eight starts this season, in which he has allowed 29 runs over 37.0 innings. As a starter, his ERA is 7.05, so I will look for Doosan to have plenty of success offensively. As a result of two struggling pitchers, I will back the over.

KT Wiz Money Line (-114)

Starting this game for the Heroes is set to be Jae-woong Kim. He is 1-4 on the season with an ERA of 4.69. Taking a closer look at his numbers shows that he mainly comes out in relief. He has made just six starts this season, going 0-3 with an ERA of 8.64. As a starter, he has allowed a total of 16 runs over 16.2 innings.

The KT Wiz will counter with William Cuevas, who has a record of 10-7 this season with an ERA of 4.21. His last five starts have not exactly been impressive, allowing 15 runs over his last 30.1 innings. The difference with Cuevas is he can go deep into games.

Because Cuevas is a much more experienced starting pitcher, I am going to back the KT Wiz to bounce back with a win here.

LG Twins/Lotte Giants Under 10.5 Runs (+104)

I will be looking to back two decent pitchers here and will be looking for a very low scoring game. Just a few days ago, the Lotte Giants beat this Twins team 17-2. They followed it up with a 3-0 win on Wednesday. The Giants will now turn to Kyung-eun Noh. He is 5-8 on the season with an ERA of 4.75. He did just have his first start against the Twins at the beginning of October, a game where he allowed one run over 6.0 innings.

The Twins will start Chan-heon Jung here and he is 6-3 with a 3.48 ERA. Jung has looked much improved in his last five starts, allowing nine runs over 29.1 innings. This translates to an ERA of 2.76. He has not been the best against the Giants, though his most recent starts against saw him allow just four runs over 12.0 innings. Besides that one offensive outburst from the Giants, the under has hit in three of their last four head to head meetings and I will look for the same here.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a three-team parlay, which pays +607.
