KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s five-game slate will feature some lopsided matchups that offer value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

SK Wyverns +4.5 Run Line (-166)

First of all, regardless who is pitching, laying 4.5 runs with a team is usually absurd. The Wyverns might be one of the worst teams, but they are coming off an outright win over the Bears on Wednesday. They will now Young-woo Jo, who is 2-2 on the season with a 5.68. Not flashy numbers, but his last three starts suggest he is turning things around. Over that stretch, he has allowed just three runs over 16.1 innings.

Sure the Bears are starting Raul Alcantara, an even though he has an ERA of 2.90, I still would not trust this Doosan team to win by five runs. Alcantara has allowed seven runs over his last 18.0 innings, so it is fair to say he is struggling more than normal. For that reason, I am going to back the Wyverns on the run line even at a steep price.

Samsung Lions +1.5 Run Line (-144)

The Twins will start Chan-heon Jung, who is 6-3 on the season with an ERA of 3.71. He has surrendered 12 runs over his last 28.1 innings, so he has still been decent as of late.

The Lions will counter with Chae-heung Choi, who is 9-6 with an ERA of 4.01 ERA. His last five starts have also been solid, allowing 13 runs over his last 31.1 innings. This includes an outing where he allowed seven runs over 5.0 innings, so besides that poor start, Choi has been lights out.

With two pitchers pitching extremely well as of late, it is very tough to back an outright winner. The Lions have actually won nine of the 15 meetings with the Twins this season, but I will still look to back them on the run line, so we get a small head start.

KT Wiz/Lotte Giants Over 10.5 Runs (-118)

I am going to look to back runs here behind two offenses who are scoring at will as of recently. The KT Wiz are averaging 8.0 runs per game over their last five games and at the same time, they are allowing 7.6 runs. The Giants are averaging 8.8 runs over the same stretch, but allowing just 4.8 runs. The over is 4-1 in the last five head to head meetings with an average of 14 runs in those games respectively. The over is also 4-0 in the last four games for the KT Wiz and 3-0 in the last three games for the Giants. As a result, I will back the over and will look for another high scoring game.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a three-team parlay, which pays +401.
