KBO picks and predictions

Wednesday’s five-game slate will feature some lopsided matchups that offer value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kiwoom Heroes Money Line (+118)

Jae-woong Kim will make the start for the Kiwoom Heroes, just his second start of the season. He mainly comes out of the bullpen, posting a record of 0-2 with an ERA of 2.84. It helps to know that he has not allowed a single run since early July, which has been about 19.1 innings of work.

On the other side will be Je-song Bae, who is 6-3 with a 4.43 ERA. His last three starts have been overall poor, allowing 14 runs over his last 15.2 innings. Against the Heroes, he is 1-0, but with an ERA of 10.80. This was over just one start where he allowed six runs over 5.0 innings. With a poor track record against Kiwoom this season, I will back the Heroes to win this game at a good price.

LG Twins/Samsung Lions Under 11.5 (-124)

Min-ho Lee is set to take the mound for the Twins and he is 4-2 this season with an ERA of 2.97. In two starts against the Lions, Lee has allowed two runs over 12.1 innings. That translates to an ERA of 1.46.

Starting this game for the Lions will be Yoon-dong Heo. He is 2-1 on the year with an ERA of 5.13. The good news is he has not allowed more than three runs in a start, so perhaps he can keep his team in the game.

Both teams are averaging 4.2 runs over their last five games. Samsung is allowing about 6.0 runs per game over this stretch and the Twins are allowing 4.6 runs. The under is also 5-0 in the last five games for the Twins and 4-1 for the Lions.

KIA Tigers/Doosan Bears Over 9.5 Runs (-108)

Normally when Raul Alcantara makes a start, you automatically should look to the under. However, he has not been as sharp recently, allowing six runs over his last 12.0 innings (two starts). Alcantara is still capable of pitching a terrific game which is why he is 10-1 with an ERA of 2.89, but signs of regression have shown up.

He will be countered by Drew Gagnon, who is 6-5 with an ERA of 4.65. Gagnon has struggled even more, allowing 12 runs over his last 9.0 innings, also his last two starts. The Kia Tigers have allowed about nine runs per game over their last five games, while scoring five runs on average during this stretch.

I am going to ride the recent struggles of both guys and will look for the offenses to score a ton of runs.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a three-team parlay, which pays +758.
