The opening month of the 2026 Major League Baseball season continues with another loaded slate of games on Sunday. The 14-game card includes a couple of showdowns, including Sunday Night Baseball between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. The action gets underway at 1:35 pm ET between the Tampa Bay Rays and Pittsburgh Pirates in an interleague showdown.
Here are my best bets for Sunday’s slate, and also make sure to check out our MLB picks for predictions throughout the 2026 campaign!
Detroit Tigers vs Boston Red Sox Under 7 (-110)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable at that number to -120.
Each of the first two games in this series have been lower-scoring affairs, and we could certainly see another pitcher’s duel on Sunday. We’ve got a pair of excellent starting pitchers on the mound in this one, and it features one ace in particular who is looking to bounce back after a terrible outing away from home. Garrett Crochet just surrendered 10 runs in less than 2 innings of work, but he should be in a good spot to return to his usual form against a Tigers lineup that has been awful against lefties to this point. On the other side, Framber Valdez (3.10 xERA, 3.07 FIP) has been solid in his first season with Detroit, and he’ll get the pleasure of facing a Red Sox lineup that is dead last in home runs and 23rd in WRC+ on the season. Let’s back the under in Boston.
Colorado Rockies F5 team total over 1.5 vs Los Angeles Dodgers (-140)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -150.
After getting blown out in the first game of this NL West series, the Rockies bounced back with a narrow victory on Saturday to even the series. Sunday’s matchup should have plenty of fireworks, and I’m going back to the well with a wager that has treated me well through the first few weeks of the season. Dodgers starter Roki Sasaki has surrendered 9 runs in 3 outings this season, including 8 earned runs over his last 9 innings of work. The Japanese right-hander has especially struggled with his command on the road, as he allowed a whopping 6 runs to the lowly Nationals in his last outing away from Dodger Stadium. Until Sasaki’s command issues improve, it’s hard to ignore backing the Rockies to scratch across a couple of runs in the first 5 innings at Coors Field.
