MLB Saturday parlay at mega (+1048) odds today 10/1: Mets want the NL East crown

New York Mets third baseman Eduardo Escobar (10) celebrates his tenth inning game winning walkoff single against the Miami Marlins with teammates at Citi Field.

It’s the final weekend of the MLB regular season and that means the playoffs are coming. However, while most teams have either clinched postseason berth or been eliminated, there are still a few important games happening. The Braves and Mets are in the midst of a 3-game series that could decide who is crowned the champions of the NL East, and that game is involved in today’s mega parlay.

But before we dive in, be sure to read our MLB picks for every MLB side and total today.

Let’s get into our mega parlay for Saturday and break down each of the legs one by one.

Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 over Boston Red Sox (+140)

Ross Stripling has been the model of consistency for the Blue Jays. While Kevin Gausman and Mitch White have been a rollercoaster in the second half of the season, Stripling has allowed more than 3 runs just once in 10 starts since the all-star break. The veteran has made 4 starts against the Red Sox this season and has a 2.70 ERA as the Blue Jays have won the last 3 times he’s faced Boston. Toronto has clinched a playoff berth, but they still have a lot to play for as they want to earn home-field advantage.

They will face the rookie Brayan Bello, who had a rough start to his MLB career but has been better recently. However, in 2 starts against the Blue Jays, he has allowed 7 runs and 16 hits in 9 innings. Toronto is rolling, and I’m not going to bet against that.

Seattle Mariners -1.5 over Oakland Athletics (-105)

These teams have very different intentions in this game. The Mariners nearly have their wild-card spot locked in, and this series is a great chance for them to stay in the second wild-card berth or potentially knock off the Blue Jays for the #1 spot. The Athletics are just trying to see how their prospects perform at MLB level. They will have their ace and recently extended Luis Castillo on the mound to oppose JP Sears of the Athletics. Sears was involved in the trade that sent Frankie Montas to the Yankees, and the lefty has struggled since being acquired at the trade deadline.

He has a 5.36 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP as a member of Oakland, and his advanced metrics are not pretty. He has a high xERA and xBA to add to a very high barrel rate, so in an important game for Seattle, I expect an all-out effort for a Mariners win.

New York Mets -1.5 over Atlanta Braves (+145)

It’s the most exciting series of the weekend as the Mets and Braves duel for the NL East crown. The teams are tied after the Braves won last night, so this series will make or break their chances of winning the division. Kyle Wright will get the start for the Braves as he goes for win #21 and he will be opposed by Mets ace Max Scherzer. Both starters have had excellent seasons, and they will want to bring their best on Saturday night as it is likely their most important start of the season. However, Scherzer has the advantage.

In 3 starts against Atlanta in 2022, Scherzer has a 2.21 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP. He’s limited the Braves lineup to a .145 batting average and a .189 OBP. Wright has struggled against the Mets as he’s allowed 9 runs and 16 hits including 5 home runs in 13 innings. The New York lineup has a .308 batting average and a .346 OBP against Wright, so since they also have one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound, back the Mets to win big.
