MLB Thursday same game parlay (+992 odds): Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants

Johnny Cueto Giants

There are a lot of people that say parlays are dumb. Frankly, I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life so I don’t listen to those people. Parlays are fun. That’s a fact that you can google right now if you don’t believe me. What’s even more fun are same game parlays. Especially those that happen to be on MLB Network at 3:45pm ET today like the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. Let’s be honest, is there anything more fun than sweating out a +992 parlay at the end of a workday? I doubt it but if there is then I would love to hear more about it.

Before we get to the same game parlay, don’t be the person that forgets about our full game preview for picks on the side and total for this one if you choose to go that route. You can also follow me on Twitter for any other bets I might throw out throughout the day. Bets are just flying all over the place here so they’re easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention.

San Francisco Giants ML (+106)

It’s time to accept the fact that the San Francisco Giants are actually good. I know at the beginning of the season I didn’t have them 63-38 and in first place at this point but here we are. They got pumped last night but that was because the Dodgers got to Anthony DeSclafani early in the game. It was bound to happen as it was the third time in a month that Los Angeles has seen DeSclafani. They smash him every time they see him.

On May 23rd, the Dodgers raked him for 10 runs in 2.2 innings so technically last night wasn’t even that bad. Today Johnny Cueto is on the hill and outside of Justin Turner and the ice cold Cody Bellinger, nobody in the Los Angeles lineup has really had success against him. I like San Francisco to win this one as slight, home underdogs.

David Price to record 6+ strikeouts (+200)

Even though I like the Giants to win, I still think David Price whiffs at least 6 of them. The Giants have been striking out like it’s their job recently. In their last 190 at-bats they’ve struck out 65 times. That’s crazy. Today Nestor Ceja will be behind the plate and as far as umpires go, he’s pretty generous. He called the Dodgers/Giants game back on May 23rd when Julio Urias struck out 10 Giants. Coincidentally enough it was the game I mentioned earlier when DeSclafani got torched for 10 runs in less than three innings. Price could throw 80+ pitches today so we have that in our back pocket as well.

I also bet Price’s number straight over at DraftKings and you can read more about it here

Johnny Cueto over 5.5 strikeouts (+116)

The umpire calls the game for both teams so if Price gets a bump then so does Johnny Cueto. Cueto has been good enough this season and has flirted with this number in each of his last 5 starts. He’s fanned at least 5 guys in all 5 of those starts and got at least 6 in 3 of them. He hasn’t seen the Dodgers yet this season but he did beat them last year. I’d imagine he has a longer leash given how the bullpen was used last night so there is that too. If Cueto is allowed to throw 90+ pitches today, which is well in the range of outcomes, he’s a safe bet to whiff at least 6 guys today.
