Monday NHL three-team mega parlay (+1120 odds): Senators to remain hot against faltering Flames

Jan 28, 2020; Buffalo, New York, USA; Ottawa Senators left wing Brady Tkachuk (7) takes a shot on goal during the third period against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center.

Eight NHL games are scheduled for Monday, highlighted by a big matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Our hockey expert has identified the best bets of the day and included them in a mega parlay. But be sure to also check out our picks for all eight of Monday’s NHL matchups here.

But right now, let’s break down our three-team mega parlay:

Ottawa Senators (+180)

Carolina Hurricanes (+105)

Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+118)

Parlay odds: +1120

Ottawa Senators over Calgary Flames (+180)

The Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames will face off for the eighth time this season. The Senators have had the Flames’ number this year, winning five of the seven matchups thus far. In the previous three games, the Senators have outscored the Flames 9-5, winning all three games. The Senators will be entering this game with confidence as they dominated Montreal in a 4-0 win on Saturday. In their last 10 games, the Senators have seemingly improved their goals allowed per game, only allowing 2.9, much better than their season average of 3.7.

Jacob Markstrom, Calgary’s starting netminder, hasn’t been playing his best hockey as of late. He’s lost seven of his last 10 starts. The pesky Sens should put up a fight in this one, and at +180 odds they present some great value on the money line.

Carolina Hurricanes over Tampa Bay Lightning (+105)

The first-place Carolina Hurricanes will look to extend their lead in the Central Division on Monday as they head to Tampa to take on the Lightning. The season series has been a close one with each team winning three games apiece thus far. Both teams have been playing at a high level this season, but the Hurricanes are the ones playing at a higher level right now.

Tampa Bay has lost seven of their last twelve games and is playing some of their worst hockey of the year. They will also be without their Captain Steven Stamkos who has been sidelined for the rest of the regular season with an injury. Conversely, the Hurricanes have been one of the most consistent teams all season and have picked up points in six of their last seven games. Carolina ranks inside the top ten in all major offensive and defensive categories. Most impressive is their strong power-play that is clicking at a league-best 28.3 percent. This may pose a big problem for the Lightning who are averaging the third-most penalties minutes per game.

Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 over San Jose Sharks (+118)

The Vegas Golden Knights are a perfect 5-0 versus the San Jose Sharks this season. They come into this game following a relatively easy 5-2 win vs the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Playing the second half of a back-to-back isn’t as much of a concern for the Knights as they have the best goalie tandem in the league. Robin Lehner has a 10-1-2 record, a 2.13 GAA, and a .918 SV%. This will be a significant advantage over the Sharks, who will be forced to rely on a tired Martin Jones after they dealt Devan Dubnyk at the trade deadline. The Knights also have the best defense in the league, allowing a league-low 2.18 goals per game. The Sharks have just one win in their last seven games and now sit in sixth place in the West Division.
