Al Horford over 9.5 points (-122)

Big Al just had 2 of his best regular season games on the offensive end in the last 50 days or so. On Saturday he knocked down 4 of 7 attempts from three and finished with 16 points against the Hornets. He followed that wutg 14 against the Pelicans, in a game where he also nailed 4 threes. You just have to ride the hot hand while it lasts and this is one of the reasons why I like this bet tonight.

The Hornets have just been awful on defense all season long, and even a 36-year-old Horford should make them look silly out there. They are allowing 16.3 threes per game over their last 3 outings and only 2 teams in the entire league are worse than that right now. They also struggle to defend the interior with teams averaging 51 points per game inside the paint against them, which is bottom 10 of the NBA. I could go on and on, so there are more than enough reasons to take Horford to score at least 10 points here.

LaMelo Ball to record 10+ assists (+150)

Ball is Charlotte’s only hope of getting a result in this afternoon’s game. He’s dishing out 9.7 assists per game for the month of January, up from 8.2 in December. He just had 9 of them in Saturday’s game, while over his last 6 outings, he’s gone double digits 50% of the time. With no Jaylen Brown to deal with on offense and defense, his life gets a little bit easier here. In 4 of 5 career games against the Celtics, he’s had 9, 10, 9 and 9 assists so he’s been hovering around the double-digit mark more often than not.

Boston does rank in the top 5 for most defensive stats this season, but there are still some potential weaknesses to be exploited here. The fact that Charlotte did manage to score 60 points from inside the paint on Saturday gives me optimism here and I think Ball and company will play a lot smarter tonight, which should result in at least 10 assists for LaMelo.

Terry Rozier to score 20+ points (-170)

Rozier has been on quite the scoring run since the New Year started, scoring over 20 points in all but one of his games. He’s averaging 25.9 points per game on over 50% shooting from the field which is really impressive for a player of his stature. The Hornets’ roster isn’t all that talented on offense, it’s basically him and LaMelo Ball feeding off of each other while trying to play a fast tempo and making the other team uncomfortable.

Rozier is a multifaceted offensive player, his three-point shooting has improved dramatically in the month of January and he’s knocking down 3.4 threes per game compared to just 2.1 per game in December. He has the speed advantage over Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon who will be the two primary defenders here, but I think he’s proven himself enough this season to warrant us backing him to score at least 20 points here.
