LA Lakers 1 – 10 Win Margin (+200)

This is as close to a must-win game in February as possible for the Lakers, who are desperately looking to climb up the Western Conference standings. They’ve lost their last 3 games, but I think brighter days are ahead after GM Rob Pelinka pulled off a few really smart moves before the trade deadline. Russell Westbrook is gone, the chemistry between him and the rest of the team just wasn’t working and it was time to move for LA. D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley were acquired, that should give the Lakers a much needed boost in the three-point department, something that’s plagued them quite a lot this season. LeBron James also returns to the lineup after resting in the game against Milwaukee.

Defense has been the main issue for the Warriors who are allowing 121 points per game over their last 5 outings. That’s not what you want to hear when you’re playing a team that’s 3rd in pace and capable of scoring 120+ on any given night. Although the Warriors won by 14 in the teams’ first meeting, the Lakers have a chance here. In order for that to happen, a lot of things have to go their way. Anthony Davis and LeBron each have to go over 30, while on defense they’ll have to limit Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson. After seeing them lose their last 3 games, it’s time for the Lakers to pull one back. I’ll take the underdog road team on the money line.

LeBron James Over 2.5 Made Threes (+128)

LeBron is always motivated to do well against the Warriors, and his last few games against them prove that. He’s cleared this line in 4 straight meetings, plus in 6 of his last 8 against them. He’s bounced back well from the slump he was in earlier in the year from three-point land. Over his last 8 games, he’s knocking down 41.5% of his attempts from deep, while making 3.4 shots on 8.1 attempts a night. Even Stephen Curry wouldn’t mind averaging those type of numbers. These two teams play the 1st and 3rd fastest pace in the NBA this season averaging 104.8 and 104.1 possessions a night, plus they combine for over 74 attempts from three-point land per game. I think James gets at least 10 attempts in a high tempo game, and he only has to drain 3 of them for our be to land.

Jordan Poole Over 5.5 Assists (-104)

Poole is the primary threat on offense for the Warriors with Curry out of the lineup. He’s proven that with 7 and 12 assists over his last 2 games, the likes of Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and co. will have to feed off him in tonight’s game. He’s done well against the Lakers too, when given proper minutes. In the last 2 meetings, he’s played 33 and 28 minutes, racking up 11 and 7 assists respectively.

LA is a bottom 10 team in the NBA when it comes to opponent assists per game, they are giving up 25.8 a night for the season and 28 per game over their last 3 outings against the Bucks, Thunder and Pelicans. Trading away Patrick Beverley is another plus for Poole in this game as he doesn’t have to deal with his antics. All in all, I’m expecting him to have a solid game here, hopefully his assists reflect that.
