Golden State Warriors -3.5 over Memphis Grizzlies (-110)

This is the perfect matchup for the Warriors to send out a message that they are still the defending champions and come playoff time teams will be fearful of them. At 17-6 SU they are one of the best home teams in the NBA and with a 14-8-1 ATS record they have won many bettors a lot of money this season. They have also owned the head-to-head meetings with 4 wins in 5 games overall, plus at Chase Center they are on a 5-game winning streak vs Morant and the young Grizzlies. Memphis, on the other hand, can’t seem to stop the bleeding with 3 losses in a row on the road. Losing that 11-game win streak against the Lakers has left a mark on this team; on paper the Grizzlies were better than both the Suns and Kings but ultimately they got beat in both of those games. The Kings blew them out by 33 points last time out and right now there are a ton of question marks hanging above this team. I have the Warriors winning by at least 5 points in front of the home crowd.

Stephen Curry to score 35+ points (+300)

We have only seen one signature Stephen Curry game in the month of January so far as he works his way back from that shoulder injury that forced him to miss almost a month of play. Curry scored 41 points in the win at Washington 9 days ago and I think it’s time he reminds the world once again who is the only unanimous MVP in the history of the NBA. Curry’s 3-ball has been consistent over the last 3 games with him knocking down 16 in total during that stretch. The Grizzlies are one of his favorite teams to play during the regular season; in the last 4 meetings with them he is averaging 38.8 points while clearing this line a total of 3 times. With the Memphis road woes surfacing over their last 3 games in which they have allowed an average of 16 threes per game (22 in their loss at Sacramento), I expect the Warriors to come out blazing in this one and Curry will be at the forefront of every attack.

Desmond Bane to score 20+ points (-170)

One player that hasn’t disappointed during this 3-game losing streak is Desmond Bane. In fact, his play during the entire month of January has been impressive; he has scored at least 20 points in 5 of his last 6 games — elevating his average to 21.5 ppg this month. He is shooting better than 50% from the field and better than 51% from 3-point land. Those are the most consistent shooting numbers the Grizzlies currently have going for them. In his lone game against the Warriors this season he finished with only 9 points, but prior to that he had 22 in a game against them playing just 27 minutes. He should be able to make the most out of Golden State’s struggles on the perimeter; teams are averaging 40.6% of makes from distance against them in their last 3 games. It also helps that the main focus of the Warriors defense will be on Ja Morant, so guys like Bane may go slightly under the radar.
