Another week in the long haul that is the NBA season closes on Sunday with an 8-game schedule. It gets started with a pair of 3:30 pm ET tips and then the Lakers will wrap things up at 9:30 pm ET against the visiting Magic. Yes, March Madness may have center stage at the moment – but don’t forget about the association!

Below is my Sunday NBA mega parlay, and also be sure to check out all of our NBA picks.

Hawks -9 (-110)

Pistons +9.5 (-110)

Lakers -9.5 alternate spread (+142)

NBA parlay odds: +782

For this parlay we are going with two favorites against the spread (one on an alternate number) and an underdog plus the points. Let’s break down each of the legs.

Hawks -9 over Spurs (-110)

The Hawks look to build on their win over the reigning NBA champion Warriors on Friday as they travel to face the Spurs. San Antonio is coming off back-to-back overtime losses and in the last game against Memphis it squandered a 29-point lead. I don’t think the Spurs can recover – and given how bad they are they probably don’t even care about recovering at any point this season. The motivation is with the Hawks, who are battling for playoff position in the Eastern Conference. Plus this is the homecoming of Dejounte Murray, who is playing in San Antonio for the first time since leaving his former team this past summer. He could be playing inspired basketball. The Hawks have won and covered 3 of the last 4 head-to-head meetings and they should do it again.

Pistons +9.5 over Heat (-110)

The Heat lost 113-99 to the Bulls last night in Chicago. It was a hugely disappointing performance by Miami, which shot a mere 27% from three and the defense allowed the Bulls to rack up 34 assists and shoot better than 56% from the field (50% from the land of plenty). The Heat are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 5-15 ATS in their last 20 overall. I certainly don’t have any faith in them as a -9.5 favorite — especially not on the road and playing the second leg of a back-to-back situation. Miami generally plays low-scoring games, making it tough to cover any big number. The Pistons are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home against the Heat and should cover again, perhaps even with ease.

Lakers -9.5 alternate spread over Magic (+142)

There aren’t a lot of good things to say about the Lakers these days. Really the only encouragement in terms of their chances of winning big on Sunday is that they will be extremely motivated because they need all the victories they can get and they are coming off a brutal last-second loss to the Mavericks. Of course, the best news is that they are playing the Magic. Orlando hasn’t been terrible of late, but it is wrapping up a 4-game road trip and playing the second leg of a back-to-back situation. No travel is involved since the Magic faced the Clippers last night, but it still doesn’t bode well for the visitors. In their last 3 second legs of back-to-backs this season, they have lost by double-digits every time and are losing by an average of 16.3 points per game. There is no need to overthink this one; even a struggling L.A. side can beat Orlando by double digits.
