The Boston Bruins were able to make history last night with their 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. They tied the NHL record for wins in a season with 62, which was set by the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and was then matched by the 2018-2019 Tampa Bay Lightning.

They’re not wasting any time trying to set a new record as they now face off against the Philadelphia Flyers this evening. All eyes were already going to be on them chasing history, but it’s also one of just two games on the ice tonight and will be aired on TNT at 6:00 pm ET. To celebrate a potentially historic night, we’ve come up with a Same Game Parlay for the action.

Boston Bruins -1.5 (-105)

There is simply no reason to bet against the Bruins at this point. They have 3 games left to break the record, but why waste any time? Boston has been the most dominant team in the NHL all season, having clinched the Presidents’ Trophy for the league’s best record some time ago. Meanwhile, the Flyers are trending in the opposite direction. They’ve been the 2nd-worst team in the Metro Division virtually all year and have been even worse as of late. Philly was also in action last night and was shut out in a 4-0 loss to the New York Islanders.

They’ve now lost 6 straight games, going 0-5-1 in the process. Each of the last 5 of those games has been a loss by multiple goals as well. They’ve scored just 5 goals across their last 4 games, and now face the league’s best goaltending in the Bruins. To put salt in the wound, the Flyers had starting goaltender Carter Hart in net last night, pulled him, and put in backup Felix Sandstrom. So, not only are they the clearer inferior team, but they’re also far from rested and ready to give it a shot tonight. Boston has crushed Philly 4-1 and 6-0 already this year, and with history on the line, we should see another dominant win.

David Pastrnak anytime goalscorer (-135)

One of the primary reasons for Boston’s success this year has been the play of David Pastrnak. Veteran Patrice Bergeron is the team’s captain due to his seniority, but Pastrnak is the true leader of the team. Alongside Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy, he has several great assist men to feed him. He hasn’t been shy about taking his shots from those assists either, as his 386 are the most in the NHL and 45 more than the next-closest skater, Nathan MacKinnnon.

If not for the historical individual season of Connor McDavid, Pastrnak would clearly be the MVP favorite. While he may not win the coveted Hart Trophy, he’s just 3 goals away from a different milestone — a 60-goal season. His 57 goals are behind only McDavid for the league lead, and 2 of those came against the Flyers the last time these teams met. With Philly using both goaltenders just last night, expect Pastrnak to inch closer to that 60-goal season, if not pull off the hat-trick to complete it tonight.

Over 6.5 goals (+100)

To go along with what we just mentioned in terms of Philly using both goaltenders, we’re going to wrap up our Bruins vs Flyers Same Game Parlay by expecting a high-scoring matchup. Right off the bat, that may be surprising after saying Boston has won the previous 2 matchups 4-1 and 6-0. However, keep in mind the situation. Again, both teams are on the second night of a back-to-back.

The Flyers have allowed 27 goals across this current 6-game losing streak, so it’s no surprise we expect the Bruins to do most of the damage towards this total themselves. We should only need a goal or 2 from Philly, and here’s why we expect that to happen. Boston will likely get off to a quick and dominating lead. In doing so, they will likely take it easy, and perhaps even take the opportunity to take a look at a few prospects of which they’ve recently signed to entry-level contracts. It may be a bit of a sweat and take an empty-netter from Pastrnak, but we see something like a 5-2 win for Boston to set the record.
