NHL Monday mega parlay (+713 odds): Panthers look to keep rolling

Aleksander Barkov recorded 58 points in 50 games for the Florida Panthers last season

This week in the National Hockey League starts with a relatively small slate of 3 games.  However, they are interesting matchups that should provide plenty of entertainment.  We are putting together a 3-leg parlay at +713 odds for tonight’s action.  Along with this article breaking that parlay down, be sure to check out our full game previews for each matchup.  You can also follow Pickswise on Twitter for daily betting content covering all sports.

Panthers -1.5 (+235)

Sabres/Capitals over 5.5 (-128)

Maple Leafs ML (-275)

Parlay odds: +713

Let’s break it down one leg at a time:

Florida Panthers -1.5 (+235) over New York Rangers

The Florida Panthers are 3-0-1 on the road this season and they are coming off a 5-2 win over Carolina on Saturday, handing the Hurricanes their first loss of the season. On the other side, the New York Rangers are coming home after a 1-3 Western Conference road trip and have lost 3 straight games. The Rangers are 1-1-1 at home this season and 6-3-3 overall. After a tough road trip, the Rangers will be happy to return home. They lost heartbreakers to Vancouver and Edmonton and then got blown out in Calgary against the Flames. Facing a Panthers team that hasn’t lost in regulation this year isn’t the ideal matchup when you’re on a losing streak. The Panthers just beat the only other unbeaten club in the Hurricanes and should head into Madison Square Garden on a high note. Florida is the best team in hockey right now and look for them to show that tonight.

Sabres vs Capitals over 5.5 (-128)

Buffalo’s games are averaging 5.73 goals this season, while Washington’s are averaging exactly 6. Those aren’t jaw-dropping numbers, but Washington is 6th in the NHL in goals per game with 3.36. They are led by Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov, who each are averaging more than a point per game. Ovechkin refuses to age and is the biggest catalyst to Washington’s offense. The Sabres have allowed 14 goals over their last 3 games, so Washington’s top line will be licking their chops for this matchup to break out of their short losing streak. Buffalo, looking to end a losing run of their own, will need to take some offensive chances in a game in which they may need to play catch up.

Toronto Maple Leafs ML (-275) over Los Angeles Kings

Both the Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs will put their win streaks on the line as the Kings have won their last 4 games and the Leafs their last 5. The Leafs’ streak is slightly more impressive considering the last 3 wins came against the Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Boston Bruins. Offensively, both teams have been producing and pushing the pace, but the Leafs have been doing more. In their past 5 games, the Leafs are averaging almost a whole goal per game more than the Kings. When it comes to putting pressure on the opponents’ defense, the Kings rank 18th in expected goals per 60 minutes whereas the Leafs rank 2nd.   Also, don’t overlook the advantage the Leafs gain from playing at home. They are averaging 3.13 goals per game at home and only 1.75 away from Toronto.
