I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. NHL Saturdays mean one thing: hockey all day. We have several afternoon games and matchups all throughout the night. That means plenty of matchups to break down and pick out the best way to create a mega parlay to boost your bankroll for the weekend. Teams are out to solidify playoff spots and skaters are out to show off before the trade deadline. We’ve taken everything into account and found our 3 favorite spots to target. One of them begins early and the last one is the nightcap, so let’s check it out.

Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5 (+165) over St. Louis Blues

There are 2 very early games and immediately following those will be this cross-conference clash. The Penguins are still on the outside looking in when it comes to the Wild Card race, but today’s game should have them trending in the right direction. The Blues have been allowing goals left and right, as they’ve given up the 4th-most per game this season. They’ve been just as bad lately, and their offense can no longer make up for it.

Not only did they trade away their former captain Ryan O’Rielly to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but they also traded away Vladimir Tarasenko to the New York Rangers. While they’ve virtually thrown in the white flag, the Pens believe their roster of veterans have more in the tank, as they held onto Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin this offseason. Those studs helped them smash St. Louis earlier this season 6-2. That was also before the now depleted roster, so there’s no reason not to back another punishing Pittsburgh win at such a great price.

Tampa Bay Lightning 3-way ML (+100) over Detroit Red Wings

Another Eastern Conference team that is much more firmly in the playoff picture is the Lightning. Of course, merely making the playoffs is not nearly good enough for this squad. They are on a quest to reach their 4th straight Stanley Cup Final and win their 3rd in the process. Tampa is coming off a tough loss to the Buffalo Sabres, but they still netted 5 goals in that matchup.

Buffalo’s offense has been incredible all season, and back-to-back rough games for a goaltender like Lightning’s Andrei Vasilevskiy should not be expected. We’re anticipating him to step up in a big way against a very mediocre Red Wings team. Detroit has certainly looked solid recently, but they’re still a full 12 points back of Tampa for a reason. The argument against this play is the fact that the Wings defeated the Lightning in their most recent game. However, that was with backup goalie Brian Elliott in net. With Vasilevskiy back between the pipes and out to avenge his recent loss, we’ll back Tampa even on the road.

Dallas Stars ML (+100) over Vegas Golden Knights

That’s right, we’re wrapping up our NHL mega parlay by trusting a team that is currently on a 5-game losing streak. Despite that, the Stars are still the team to beat in the Central Division and arguably the Western Conference as a whole. The reason we’re still getting them on the regular money line at such a great price is due to the Golden Knights being the other top dog in the west. However, they’ve been difficult to trust at times this season.

For example, they were just pushed to overtime on home ice against a struggling Calgary Flames team in their most recent game. If that wasn’t enough, they lost outright to arguably the worst team in the NHL – the Chicago Blackhawks – in the game just before that one. It’s difficult to call a division-leader inconsistent, but the Stars can prove that tonight. Not only have they already done so this season, but they dominated the Knights. That was a 4-0 win also in Vegas, so they can certainly pull off another win in Sin City tonight.
