NHL Sunday mega parlay (+793 odds): Bruins aim for big win

Aug 29, 2020; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak (88) passes the puck against the Tampa Bay Lightning in game four of the second round of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Scotiabank Arena.

Sunday afternoon brings us 6 games on the NHL slate. It’s been a busy weekend in the hockey world, and today should be no different. We are putting together a 3-leg mega parlay at +793 odds for today’s action. Along with this parlay, be sure to check out our full game previews for each matchup. Bruins -1.5 (+108)

Devils ML (+125)

Penguins vs Capitals over 6 (-110)

Parlay odds: +793

Boston Bruins -1.5 (+108) over Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens are 0-2 this season on the 2nd half of a back-to-back, and are the away team in this matchup.  Montreal’s offense does not match up well with the Bruins, as the Canadiens are scoring at a dismal rate of 2.0 goals per game, which puts them in the basement of the league.  After Jake Allen went down with an injury on Saturday night, Sam Montembeault came in and gave up 3 goals on 25 shots and took the loss in overtime.  Allen’s injury puts the Canadiens in an unforeseen situation, which will set up Montembeault to make the start against the Bruins.  Two games in 2 nights presents a tough challenge for an inexperienced goalie, which may open the floodgates for the Bruins.  Boston will look to pot a few goals early and should have no issue holding down Montreal to a low number of goals and scoring chances.  The stars have aligned for the Bruins in this game, which will give them a great chance at a big win.

New Jersey Devils ML (+125) over New York Rangers

Even without Jack Hughes in the lineup, the Devils are playing good hockey. New Jersey owns a 7-4-2 record, and they are 2-1-1 on the road. One advantage for the Devils in this matchup is that they won’t have to face New York’s No. 1 goaltender.  Igor Shesterkin got the start in last night’s game, which means Alexander Georgiev is the projected starter in this one. Through 3 starts, Georgiev is posting a 4.26 goals-against average and .865 save percentage. That is not exactly ideal. Laying this much juice without Shesterkin in net makes it tough to back the Rangers. The Devils had won 3 straight games before last night’s loss to Boston, and they should be fired up to get back on track.

Penguins/Capitals over 6 (-110)

This is a game with high goal-scoring potential. The Penguins (3.1 goals per game) and the Capitals (3.4 goals per game), rank within the top 12 teams in the league in goals per game. With Sidney Crosby potentially back in the lineup, Alexander Ovechkin continuing his tear, and all the star power in this game, you can expect to see a full scoresheet. Both teams have balanced lineups on offense, along with defense cores that can add to the scoreboard in any game. The goaltending on both sides has not been as sharp as the offenses, which adds to the potential of a high-scoring barn-burner. Expect lots of goals in this game.
