I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. The NFL garners a lot of attention on Sundays, but we also have a solid NHL slate. It may only be 5 games in total, but there’s plenty of value on the board. There are teams on back-to-backs and others trying to bounce back from recent close losses. By piecing together our 3 favorite plays, we’ve come up with a mega parlay for an incredible payout. We’ve already cashed a +1115 mega parlay to begin the season so let’s hit another today.

Before we dive in, be sure to check out our NHL picks for today’s action.

Florida Panthers -1.5 (+135) over New York Islanders

The Panthers are welcoming in the Islanders after a close overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. This is a great opportunity for the Panthers to bounce back. They are looking to win the Presidents’ Trophy for the NHL’s best record for the 2nd straight season, so a hot start to the year is a necessity. They have already beaten the Islanders by multiple goals in their season opener, and that was on the road.

Now Florida gets to host the Rangers after they just had to play the Lightning, themselves, last night. Playing on back-to-backs is tough enough, but doing so on the road against 2 of the league’s best teams is brutal. Not only that, but the Islanders are also a team that relies on low-scoring wins behind goaltender Ilya Sorokin. He was in net against Tampa last night, which puts Semyon Varlamov between the pipes for this matchup. The Panthers have been prowling around South Florida awaiting this game, so expect them to pounce early and take this contest by at least 2 goals.

New York Rangers -1.5 (+120) over Columbus Blue Jackets

There are multiple teams on back-to-backs this Sunday, one of which is the Blue Jackets. Similarly to the Islanders, they too are on the second night of a back-to-back. The commonalities roll on, as they are also facing 2 of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. After playing against the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, they now have to take on the Rangers, who were 2 games away from the Stanley Cup Finals last year.

New York has gotten off to a strong start to this season as they look to make that next step. They opened things up with a multi-goal win over the Lightning to get revenge for last season’s Eastern Conference Finals loss. They went on to smash the Wild in Minnesota 7-3 and enter this contest with 3 days rest. It also provides confidence that the Rangers handled the Jackets last season as well. They won each of their first 2 meetings against them by multiple goals and that trend should continue today.

Sharks vs Flyers Over 6.0 (+105)

After focusing on some matchups we project to be lopsided, this west versus east matchup is much more of a toss up. Neither team is particularly great, so we’re going to focus on the total instead. The Sharks began their season 0-5-0 before finally getting their first win. Meanwhile, the Flyers enter this game having just played last night. They were on the road in Nashville to take on the Predators. That’s a team that beat San Jose in back-to-back games to begin the year, making them the stronger opponent.

Therefore, the Flyers elected to use starting goaltender Carter Hart for that game rather than saving him for this one. That puts backup goalie Felix Sandstrom in net. He is a rookie with just 1 career start to his name. That’s a perfect recipe for Sharks Timo Meier, who had a 5-goal game last season. On the flip side, San Jose has allowed 4 or more goals 3 times already in this young season. Philly may not be an offensive juggernaut, but it did upset the Lightning already this year. With that in mind, both teams should be able to find the back of the net often in this game.

Sunday’s NHL mega parlay (10/23)

Florida Panthers -1.5 (+135)

New York Rangers -1.5 (+120)

Sharks vs Flyers Over 6.0 (+105)

Parlay odds +959
