I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. After an incredible 14-game Saturday, we have a rather chill Sunday to round out the NHL weekend. However, the action does get started early once again. All 4 games are afternoon matchups due to the Super Bowl taking center stage in the evening. It’s likely to be a rather strange day on the ice, but that can provide opportunity as well. We’ve used that fact to make a very simple mega parlay that still provides an incredible payout.

Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

San Jose Sharks 3-way ML (+270) over Washington Capitals

To be clear, the Capitals are the better team in this matchup. However, let’s take a look at the spot they’re in. They were in Boston yesterday and pulled off their best win of the season, taking down the NHL-best Bruins. Not only is that a physically draining win, but an emotionally draining one. Meanwhile, the Sharks were one of the few teams not in action yesterday.

While their goaltending is an issue, they recently defeated the Lightning in Tampa Bay after trailing 3-1 in the 1st period. The Caps will likely still be able to score on the Sharks, but with them being on a back-to-back and traveling, this could be a major letdown spot for them. On top of all that, the Sharks defeated the Caps 4-1 just prior to the All-Star break. That was also in Washington, so look for San Jose’s Timo Meier to put on a show for his future new team before the trade deadline.

Philadelphia Flyers 3-way ML (+190) over Seattle Kraken

We’re backing another upset in what looks to be a strange Sunday of NHL action. One of the stranger things of the entire season has been the vast improvement of the Seattle Kraken from their inaugural season. Some fans would argue it’s even unbelievable, and since the All-Star break, Seattle has shown why. The first half of the Kraken’s season was led by a historic scoring percentage above expected. Similarly, their starting goaltender featured a sub.-900 save percentage while still recording wins.

For perspective, there is just 1 other goalie with a sub.-900 save percentage who has more than 15 wins. Those factors spell one thing — regression. That was on full display in their first game after the All-Star break, losing 4-0 to the New York Islanders. They then lost to the New Jersey Devils, scoring just 1 goal in the process, and then allowed 6 goals in a loss to the New York Rangers. They’ll now be on their 4th straight road game. While the Flyers may not be a juggernaut either, they just defeated the Edmonton Oilers and held Connor McDavid and company to just 1 goal on Thursday. Seattle doesn’t have that type of firepower and should not be such a heavy favorite today.
