The first puck drop in the United States of the 2022-23 NHL season comes tonight and we have a Lightning vs Rangers Same Game Parlay for you here. Let’s cap off Tuesday’s schedule with a Pacific Division battle between the Golden Knights and Kings. Vegas was one of the biggest disappointments last season, which was primarily due to an abundance of injuries. Meanwhile, the Kings clinched their postseason berth just 1 spot ahead of the Knights but fell in the 1st round to the Edmonton Oilers. Just 5 points separated these teams last season, so let’s break down how this season should start out.

Along with this Same Game Parlay, be sure to check out our NHL analysis for the upcoming games.

Kings ML (-120)

Over 6.5 total goals (-150)

Anytime goalscorer – Kevin Fiala (+170)

Parlay odds: +625

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our Same Game Parlay.

Los Angeles Kings ML (-120) over Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights and Kings were 2-2 in their 4 meetings last season, so it’s no surprise this game is priced rather evenly. However, LA should pull out this season-opening game at home following its big offseason addition. The Kings acquired Kevin Fiala from the Minnesota Wild during the offseason, which should bring a great boost to the pressure they can put on opponents.

There’s no denying that LA was one of the best defensive teams in the NHL last season, but teams could play to that one-dimensional style. As for the Knights, most would agree that injuries plagued their season and their fans have a reason to be optimistic. On the flip side, their massive offseason loss has a great impact when facing such a stout defense like the Kings. Vegas lost one of the league’s top goal-scorers in Max Pacioretty. Worse yet, he went to the Hurricanes for virtually nothing in return. In his place is former Coyote Phil Kessel, who seems to be at the tail end of his career. He is likely happy to be out of Arizona, but his presence isn’t enough to dethrone the Kings.

Over 6.5 total goals (-150)

Just as we stated in our side prediction, the Kings are much more known for their defense than their scoring ability. Goaltender Jonathan Quick is still with the team, which should provide great confidence in this play. He is a former Olympian and Conn Smythe Trophy winner (MVP of the playoffs) when the Kings won their first of 2 Stanley Cups in 3 seasons. Despite that being some time ago, he was still 7th in the NHL in terms of goals saved above expected last season.

LA has also been great at keeping the opposition from getting open shots against Quick. The Kings allowed the 2nd-fewest shots on goal per game last season and still have one of the league’s best defenseman in Drew Doughty. As for their offense, they did not win games last season by lighting up the scoreboard. Vegas actually won’t have Robin Lehner in net to begin the season as he recovers from injury. However, Logan Thompson was 10-5 in his starts last season and had a better save percentage at .914 percent. Fiala should help the Kings pressure him enough for a win — but not enough to go over the total.

Anytime goalscorer – Kevin Fiala  (+170)

Available props for Same Game Parlays in the NHL are scarce at the moment. Until that changes, we are going to start out this section the same way for each of our SGPs. We want to provide you with the best information, so our favorite consideration for a prop would be Fiala to record a point. With that not being available to include as a leg in our SGP, let’s take a look at what’s at our disposal and the riskiness provides a great payout.

Taking a goalscorer prop along with an under makes hitting out SGP that much more difficult, but that much sweeter when we do. Therefore, we’re going to stick with the theme of Fiala making the Kings more potent on offense and take him to score a goal tonight. He’s going to be the one putting the pressure on Vegas goaltender Logan Thompson and is more than capable of finding the back of the net. He had his standout season last year recording 33 goals. That was alongside former Rookie of the Year Kirill Kaprizov, who was their primary goalscorer. With Fiala looking to lead the way for his new squad, expect him to shine in his LA debut.

Don’t miss out on our NHL player props for tonight’s action!
