Avalanche -1.5 (+152)

Capitals/Kings over 5.5 (-105)

Blackhawks/Kraken under 5.5 (-106)

Parlay odds: +856

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+152) over Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver has just 5 wins in 16 games.  Things are getting dire for the Canucks, and playing the Avalanche doesn’t bring high hopes for a turnaround just yet.  Colorado has been pounding the puck in the net, averaging 4.5 goals per game in their last 6 games.  Even with Nathan MacKinnon out until late November, this group hasn’t lost a beat.  A slow start to the season has Colorado in 5th place in the Central division, which is unacceptable for a Stanley Cup contender.  After winning 2 straight and looking at their next few games, Colorado can really take advantage and get on a hot streak, starting in Vancouver.  Until the Canucks can prove they are out of this slump, it’s tough to back them.  Look for the Avalanche to be too much for the Canucks to handle tonight.

Capitals/Kings over 5.5 (-105)

Both of these offenses are talented enough to take this game over the total.  Los Angeles has scored 3 or more goals in 6 of their last 8 games, and they have scored at least 2 goals in 8 straight.  No. 1 Washington goaltender Vitek Vanecek got the start against Anaheim last night, so backup Ilya Samsonov is the projected starter for the Caps between the pipes.  Samsonov has not been great, posting a save percentage below .900 through 6 games and 4 starts this season.  The Kings should be able to have some offensive success.

On the other side, the Caps possess one of the most potent offenses in the league.  They are third in the NHL in scoring, averaging 3.60 goals per game, and they are led by the ageless wonder Alex Ovechkin.  The Great 8 has totaled 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) in 16 games, and he is a threat to do some damage on every shift.  This could be a high-scoring affair.

Blackhawks/Kraken under 5.5 (-106)

The Blackhawks and Kraken both have struggling goalies, but neither team has an offense to take advantage of the situation.  In net, projected starters Marc-Andre Fleury and Philipp Grubauer have stats that are likely to improve as they are veterans who are capable of better play.  Defensively, the advanced stats are positive for the Kraken, which ranks 7th in expected goals against per 60 minutes.  The Blackhawks have been more stingy of late and have allowed only 4 goals in their last 3 games.  Neither team should go crazy offensively in this one.
