The 2022 soccer World Cup gets underway on Sunday, November 20, and Group F features 2 teams that nearly won it all in 2018. Croatia lost the World Cup final to France 4 years ago while Belgium finished 3rd. Both nations feature here and will be looking to go the distance. In their way however is a solid Morocco team and Canada, who make their return to the World Cup stage for the first time since 1986. Which teams will be able to qualify from Group F and advance to the second round of the World Cup? Our soccer expert is breaking down each team and giving their best bet for Group F.

Belgium 2022 World Cup Group F prediction

Belgium could be worth a look in the outright winner market, with Roberto Martinez’s side appearing to have stronger credentials than a handful of the teams ahead of them in the betting.

The world rankings have Belgium as the second-best team on the planet and with Kevin De Bruyne arguably operating at the peak of his powers, it would come as no surprise to see the Red Devils operating in the knockout stage of the tournament and potentially bettering their 3rd-place finish from 2018.

Canada 2022 World Cup Group F prediction

This will be Canada’s first appearance at a World Cup since Mexico in 1986, where they exited after the group stage having lost all 3 of their matches.

John Herdman’s squad is largely made up of players who play in the MLS, with Canada’s chances of qualifying from Group F relying heavily on the impact European-based stars Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies can have on the tournament.

Canada is -105 with FanDuel Sportsbook to finish bottom of Group F, and it will likely be between themselves and Morocco in a fight for 3rd.

Morocco 2022 World Cup Group F prediction

Morocco qualified for the Qatar World Cup by beating DR Congo in a play-off over two legs, although the result wasn’t enough to keep former boss Vahid Halilhodzic in the job, with the Bosnian replaced by Walid Regragui at the beginning of September.

Regragui has had only two friendlies with the squad in the lead-up to the tournament, which is far from ideal preparation for the team who finished bottom of Group B in the 2018 World Cup.

However, Morocco’s squad is made up of players who play across most of Europe’s top leagues, like PSG star Achraf Hakimi, and they should have enough to finish above Canada and avoid finishing bottom of Group F.

Croatia 2022 World Cup Group F prediction

Croatia reached the final of the 2018 World Cup before being beaten 4-2 by a formidable French team and they are capable of outperforming their odds once again.

Zlatko Dalic’s side could hardly have had a better preparation leading into these finals. Croatia topped their World Cup qualification group, before winning Group 1 in League A of the Nations League to reach the tournament finals.

Croatia has big odds to win the World Cup but they can’t be completely dismissed based on their exploits 4 years ago.

They will need to avoid some of the other big teams but Luka Modric and company have proven themselves in tournament football.

2022 Soccer World Cup Group F Best Bet: Belgium and Croatia to qualify (-150)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Betting on Belgium and Croatia to qualify looks to be the best bet in Group F ,with Morocco and Canada likely to fight it out for 3rd place.

Belgium’s group stage form in recent major finals speaks for itself. They topped their groups in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups and at Euro 2020, securing the full 9 points on each occasion.

Croatia doesn’t quite have the same wealth of talent as their main Group F rivals, but should be able to secure 6 points and progress into the last 16.
