USA vs Canada is also a battle between the tournament co-hosts, but the USMNT has home-field advantage at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati and should be able to make the most of it.

USA vs Canada expert picks for Sunday’s CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal

USA vs Canada best bet: USA ML (-159, BetMGM)

The USMNT made a slow start to the CONCACAF Gold Cup but the knockout stages begin with renewed hope. The US team set out missing the majority of the players responsible for the recent CONCACAF Nations League success and took time to get going, almost losing the opening game against Jamaica but managing to escape with a 1-1 tie. Easy wide-margin wins over Saint Kitts & Nevis and Trinidad & Tobago then enabled the US team to emerge as group winners on goal difference ahead of the Reggae Boyz, and they now have home-field advantage over co-hosts Canada in Cincinnati on Sunday night.

The Canadians have experienced an even bigger drop-off in form since the Nations League and, after opening with ties against Guadeloupe and Guatemala, an unimpressive 4-2 win over pointless Cuba was enough to see the Canucks scrape through to the last 8. The last time Canada won this matchup on an American field was in 1957, though and the teams’ efforts so far in this tournament point to a home win. FC Dallas forward Jesus Ferreira is in red-hot form for the USMNT, scoring hat-tricks in each of the last 2 games, and the Canadians have lost their experienced goalkeeper Milan Borjan to an injury, further weakening the case to back the visitors.
