Unfortunately, we’ve still got almost five months until the NFL is back in action. But that doesn’t mean we can’t bet on it. There are still plenty of wagering opportunities during the offseason, including draft props. The 2022 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and it’ll be held from April 28-30 in Las Vegas.

Before names start getting called, we’ll have a ton of draft content coming to get you primed. For example, I recently took a look at my three favorite early prop bets. Today, we’ll be focusing on Aidan Hutchinson, and draft props surrounding the Michigan star who is the favorite to go first overall. We’ll start by taking a look at the odds, courtesy of DraftKings, before diving into the best bet:

There are a number of bets you can make on Hutchinson. For starters, you can bet on him just to be the first overall pick at -200. He’s followed relatively closely by Travon Walker at +190 and then everyone else is a pretty big long-shot. DraftKings also has set an over/under on Hutchinson’s draft position on 1.5, with +165 being offered to go over. Essentially that means you can take the over 1.5 and just bet on anybody but Hutchinson going first overall.

You can also bet on Hutchinson to be the second overall pick, and he’s +160 there. He’s 20/1 to go third, 40/1 to go fourth and 100/1 to go fifth. Now let’s get to the fun part, our best bet:

There’s been significant movement with the odds here, but I still like the over 1.5 on Hutchinson at +165. Not too long ago, Walker was a 20/1 long-shot across the board. But his draft stock has been surging in recent weeks, and the gap between him and Hutchinson has been getting smaller and smaller. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein is one of my go-to guys this time of year, and in his most recent mock draft he had the Jaguars taking Walker first overall.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire, and there’s been a whole lot of smoke with Jacksonville and the Georgia defensive end. NFL Network’s Peter Schrager recently reported that he had heard chatter around the league that Walker fits the profile of the kind of prospect Jags GM Trent Baalke likes with his raw athletic potential.

There was never anything firm linking Hutchinson to the Jaguars anyway, and I never understood why he was such a big favorite in the first place. The team has been pretty tight-lipped and it’s also too early to completely rule out them going with an offensive tackle like Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu, so taking the over 1.5 on Hutchinson and essentially betting the field makes the most sense.
