Wise n' Shine: NFL Thursday Night Football picks and MLB predictions for Thursday, September 22

Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to another day of sports! Football is back with another round of Thursday Night Football, and we also have some MLB games on the slate for Thursday, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Exciting MLB finishes
Yankee fans will have to wait another day to see Aaron Judge hit home run #61 as he did not record a homer on Wednesday, but he did go 2-for-4 with 2 doubles. The Yankees ended up beating the Pirates 14-2, the Guardians extended their lead in the AL Central with an 8-2 win over the White Sox, the Phillies continued to fight for their Wild Card spot with a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays and the Mariners suffered an expected 2-1 loss to the Athletics.

Today’s Slate

It’s Thursday Night Football!
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns are this week’s Thursday Night Football matchup. Both teams are looking to bounce back after Week 2 losses, and you can read our Steelers vs Browns predictions.

Fabulous 13-game MLB slate
Thursday’s tend to offer a smaller slate of MLB games since several teams are traveling to their weekend series. However, there are still 13 games to watch and bet on. You can read our MLB picks for all of today’s games.

Best Bet of the Day

NFL: Donovan Peoples-Jones over 2.5 receptions (+100)
Steelers vs Browns, 8:10 pm ET, Amazon Prime

Donovan Peoples-Jones had a career-high 11 targets in Week 1 and then completely fell off in Week 2, posting 0 catches on 1 target against the Jets. This was partially due to the Jets playing more zone coverage (70%) than man and drawing Sauce Gardner in few man instances. Gardner stands at 6’3″ 200 lbs, and will eventually be known as an elite corner in this league. The Browns were successful in establishing the run game against the Jets, and Peoples-Jones disappeared. Against the Steelers Thursday night, I believe they will make it a point to get him the ball. Week 16 2021 Peoples-Jones started against the Steel Curtain and finished with 3 catches for 76 yards on 5 targets. Check out all of our expert prop bets for Steelers vs Browns.
