Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today! To help you enjoy Labor Day, we’ve got stacks of great sports advice, including best bets for today’s MLB and US Open tennis. Let’s get right to it!

About Last Night

Mega Parlay lands on a super Sunday
It’s a happy holiday at Pickswise after we cashed Sunday’s MLB mega parlay at +1306 odds thanks to the Mets (-1.5), Indians and Tigers. You’ll no doubt want to read today’s MLB mega parlay at +1246 odds!

Elsewhere in the MLB, the Giants secured a series win over World Series favorites the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-4 win. The Giants are +1000 with FanDuel Sportsbook to win the World Series and +180 to take the NL West. In Sunday’s big college football game, Notre Dame pulled off a 41-38 overtime win against Florida State but failed to cover the 7.5-point spread.

Today’s Slate

College Football kickoff weekend continues
There’s still one more kickoff weekend college football game to enjoy with Louisville taking on Ole Miss (ESPN 8pm ET). Our expert expects a strong performance from the Rebels. Make sure you check out our preview of the game.

MLB holiday slate
There’s a bigger MLB slate than we often see on a Monday, with 12 games including the in-form Giants taking on the Rockies on ESPN at 4pm ET, which happens right after the Rays take on the Red Sox at 1:10pm (also live on ESPN). Be sure to read our picks for each of today’s matchups.

U.S. Open heating up
The trophies will be awarded at the U.S. Open tennis on Sunday, and today’s action at Flushing Meadows includes Novak Djokovic vs Jenson Brooksby and Karolina Pliskova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Make sure you read our best bets for all of today’s tennis action.

Best Bet of the Day

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 vs St. Louis Cardinals
4:15pm ET

Max Scherzer is 4-0 with a 1.29 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP with the Dodgers and LA has won all 6 of his starts. Scherzer was good for the Nationals and was having another great season of his long successful career, but he’s been a different beast in LA. He has shut down some of the most powerful offenses in the league since moving to the west coast as the Astros, Padres, and Braves have combined for 2 runs in 20.2 innings against him. Check out our full preview of Dodgers vs Cardinals.

Stat of the Day

Ole Miss Rebels averaged nearly 560 yards and 39 points per game in 2020 and they played at the fifth-fastest pace in the nation last year, dialing up 81.6 offensive plays per game.

Boost of the day

DeAndre Hopkins or Stefon Diggs to lead NFL in receiving yards for 2021-2022 season

We’re looking at NFL Futures for this boost from FanDuel Sportsbook. Buffalo’s Stefon Diggs led the league with 1,535 receiving yards last season and Arizona’s DeAndre Hopkins was third with 1,407 (KC tight end Travis Kelce split them). The sportsbook has boosted the odds of this prop from +340 to +400.
