Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Fri Aug 29
Colorado Buffaloes
Point Spread Pick
Georgia Tech -4.0(-110)Georgia Tech @ Colorado

The hype train of the Colorado Buffaloes will have a new look in 2025, as Deion Sanders’ squad must adjust to life without Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Entering Week 1 at home as underdogs, Colorado could have tremendous growing pains in the 2025 campaign after replacing its QB, top-4 receiving targets and a trio of offensive lineman. The Buffaloes will be led by veteran liberty transfer Kaidon Salter at QB, though they return just 3 starters total from what was an electric offense. While Salter is no Joe Schmoe, I expect the passing game to struggle a bit against a veteran Georgia Tech secondary that ranks top-40 in returning production. The defense for Colorado, however, presented serious problems last year and will be leaned on more this time around without the star power on offense. Not to forget, Coach Prime had an array of health problems over the offseason and his squad enters the new year with a ton of questions marks.

On the contrary, the Georgia Tech program is building something in head coach Brent Key’s third full season at the helm. While the Buffaloes are a mystery with a bevy of new transfer players in what begins a new era for coach Sanders, we know almost exactly what to expect out of the Yellow Jackets. QB Haynes King returns for another year while 1,000-yard rusher Jamal Haynes is back as well to lead the rushing attack. Not to forget, Colorado is without their star cornerback, top pass rusher, both safeties and both linebackers from a year ago defensively. Really the only concern for the Yellow Jackets entering 2025 is the offensive line, though Brent Key has built a reputation developing lineman and I’ll trust his experience at the position. Give King time in the backfield, and look out. I’ll take the experience of Georgia Tech’s roster to come out on top and cover the spread in this spot.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado prediction: Yellow Jackets -4 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.

Ryan Bunnell
South Dakota Coyotes - NCAAF
Sat Aug 30
Iowa State Cyclones
Point Spread Pick
South Dakota Win +15.5(-110)South Dakota @ Iowa State

Last week, we faded the Cyclones when they were in Dublin, squaring off for Farmageddon against hated rival Kansas State. In the college football season kickoff of two ranked sides, ISU delivered the goods in what was a thrilling 24-21 win. Some takeaways to consider, K-State if one watched the game, actually controlled most of the game flow until things opened up late in the second-half, but even then the Wildcats matched them in stride. It was a sloppy affair with a lot of variance involved, the Cyclones were the benefactors of that and emerged with the W. Add in the emotional nature of the win and the fact that Cy-Hawk is up next, this has a sandwich game feel to it which makes the Coyotes dangerous.

A little bit about South Dakota, they are #5 in the Coaches Polls for FCS teams in the pre-season and are not a team to come in flat against or look past, ISU, included. The spot screams trap and with all the mayhem that ensures in Week One, there is at least one FCS-FBS upset, generally speaking. If we were to scan the list for potential candidates, this would have to be near the top, if the not at the top. Make no mistake, South Dakota will see this as an opportunity and if the Coyotes show up while the Clones are flat-footed, not only do we cover here, but an upset is very much possible.

South Dakota vs. Iowa State prediction: South Dakota (+15.5) available at time of publishing. Playable to +15.

Best Bets Against The Spread College Football

The most popular college football bet is betting against the spread (ATS). Against the spread betting isn’t about picking a winner of the game, it’s about picking the team who will cover the spread, a line set by sportsbooks. Let’s say you bet your money that Team A covers the spread (wins by a certain amount of points), Michigan -8.5 for example. Or that Team B will cover the spread (keep the game closer than oddsmakers expect), Penn State +8.5. If Michigan beat Penn State 30-27, then Penn State covers the spread, and underdog backers are cashing tickets with +8.5 on Penn State. Whereas if Michigan wins 30-20, more than 8.5 they cover the spread and favorite backers are cashing tickets.

When Do You Post Your NCAAF Best Bets For This Weekend

With so many NCAAF games played each weekend, we have a confidence rating on all of our NCAAF Picks, with 3 stars being the most confident, and then we further narrow down our three-star plays into our NCAAF Best Bets. These will typically be posted on a Thursday or Friday ahead of the weekend’s schedules. Check out this week’s NCAAF Best Bets right here on the College Football Best Bets page.
