Mercifully, the long wait for the first big week of football season is over. College football Week 0 was fine, but Week 1 is whole different beast. We already witnessed a Thursday night thriller between Colorado and Georgia Tech. Now it’s time for a Saturday schedule that features many of the top teams in the land, including a showdown between LSU and Clemson.

Here are my best anytime touchdown scorer bets. Also check out our college football futures and our Week 1 best bets.

College Football Week 1 touchdown scorer bet: Cam Cook, RB, West Virginia Over 1.5 TDs (-150)

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

Cook led the nation in total rushing yards (1,659) and rushing yards per game (127.6) last season at Jacksonville State. He scored 16 touchdowns and had four games with multiple house calls – including one with three. Cook will be familiar with this kind of competition level when his new West Virginia squad hosts Coastal Carolina. The Mountaineers are favored by three touchdowns and the game total is 54.5, so they are expected to score in bunches. Coastal Carolina had one of the worst rushing defenses in the country in 2025, so Cook should run wild this weekend.

College Football Week 1 touchdown scorer bet: Dilin Jones, RB, LSU (-135)

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

Jones is another transfer who could make an immediate impact with his new program. The former Wisconsin Badger rushed for only two touchdowns last season with his old team, although it’s worth noting that one of those came against Michigan. Jones figured to play a more prominent role with the Bayou Bengals, as he heads into the 2026 campaign in the #1 spot on the RB depth chart. Harlem Berry (two touchdowns last year) returns to LSU as the backup, and he is not much of goal-line factor at 5’10’’ and 187 pounds. Clemson was fine against the run in 2025 but nothing special and allowed 10 touchdowns on the ground.

College Football Week 1 touchdown scorer bet: Dakorien Moore, WR, ORE (+135)

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore tossed 30 touchdown passes last season. Fourteen of those went to Kenyon Sadiq and Malik Benson. Both of those targets are gone, so Moore’s scoring strikes have to go somewhere. Moore should be one of the beneficiaries as he makes his way up the depth chart following the departures of Sadiq and Benson. The sophomore was already productive in his first year, catching 34 balls for 497 yards and three TDs. He figures to get much, much better in 2026. Up first for the Ducks is a matchup with Boise State, which surrendered 17 scores through the air last season. That’s by no means poor, but it’s not a number that suggests the Broncos are about to keep Moore under wraps.
